Your letter of 21 May addressed to Mr Macey has bee n

passed to me in Category 'A' Section for reply.

Attached is a list of the 51 prisoners currently held in

Category 'A' in England and Wales who have been convicted

of, or are charged with, offences connected with the

situation in Northern Ireland. The information is set out

in the same format as before, using the same criteria.

Of the 54 listed in Mr Walsh's letter of 21 August 1983,

erroneously given as 55, Anthony CUNNINGHAM, Joseph DUFFY

and Michael MURRY have been discharged; one further

prisoner, Shane O'DOHERTY, has been downgraded to

Category 'B'.
