INTRODUCTION TO E-SHOPPINGOnline shopping is a form of electronic

commerce whereby consumers directly buy goods or services from a seller over the Internet without an intermediary service

An online shop, eshop, e-store, Internet shop, webshop, webstore, online store, or virtual store evokes the physical analogy of buying products or services at a bricks-and-mortar retailer or shopping centre

However ES also includes all inter-company and intra-company functions (such as marketing, finance, manufacturing, selling, and negotiation) that enable commerce and use electronic mail, EDI, file transfer, fax, video conferencing, workflow, or interaction with a remote computer.

ORIGIN OF E-SHOPPINGonline shopping was invented much earlier in 1984;

in example for TV based systems. Since ‘’online shopping‘’, in the context of the B2C

business model, became broadly available to the end consumer, WWW-based ‘’online shops‘’ evolved. Tim Berners-Lee created "The World Wide Web Browser" in 1990. In1994 few other developments took place. Online bank , the first of its kind opened this year. Another development was opening of online pizza shop by pizza hut.

In the same year Netscape introduced SSL encryption to enable encryption over the data transferred online. This later became the necessity of online shopping. In 1995, Amazon started operation, one of the largest online shopping mall now. Then in 1996 eBay started its online shopping portal.

For online shopping systems in this context the narrower term ‘’web shop‘’ is used.

The online shopping system has brought down political and physical barriers giving everyone in the world an equal playing ground for their market

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TADITIONAL AND ONLINE SHOPPING

• The difference between traditional shopping and online shopping are the following:

Traditional Shopping 1.) You must carry what you buy. 2.) You must drive to the store where you want to buy it. 3.) You can see what you want to buy. (the good thing about

traditional shopping) Online Shopping 1.) You will not carry any load or weight from the items you purchased. 2.) You will just wait for it to be delivered. 3.) You cannot see what you are buying. There's a risk that it might be

defective.

assist people making purchases online.• The software allows online shopping customers to
