Taiwan Tour Shuttle - Sun Moon Lake Route passes Taichung THSR Station and directly arrives in Sun Moon Lake for a one-day trip. If you are not rushing, get off at Ailang Bridge in Puli and take a city bus to Puli Township for a flower and liqueur tour.

Puli Township is famous of flowers and liqueur, where Shaoshing wine from Puli Brewery is aromatic and various flowers are fragrant in all seasons. Flowers, wine, water bamboos, Shaoshing wine banquet, and flower feast could satisfy visitors’ appetite. Hand-made paper products in Kuanghsin Paper Mill, creative paper arts in Paper Dragon Handicrafts, lacquerwork in Long Nan Lacquer, and wonderful Chung Tai Buddhist Temple have created the town with art humanities.

New Era Art Resort & SPA, located before Ailang Bridge, exhibits stone carving and paintings. When Tung flowers blooming, the park is covered with the snow-white flowers. In Muh Sheng Museum of Enomology, thousands of precious butterflies and insects samples are displayed.

Tao-Mi Eco-Village in Tao-Mi Community appears abundant natural ecology and Paper Dome, which was built with the materials from the paper dome built in Japan after the Hanshin Earthquake, presenting the historical and experience-inherited meanings.

Black tea in Yuchi Village is mainly planted in Tayen Seshui Community. The black tea, with the flavor of fruits, is smooth and tasty that a lot of visitors would participate in Annual Black Tea Cultural Festival. Two historical buildings, Tea Research Extension Station –Yuchih and Antique Assam Tea Farm, are also the popular places for tea-lovers.

There are plenty touring spots around Sun Moon Lake, such as Lalu Island, Wenwu Temple, Ita Thao, Syuanzang, Cihen Pagoda, Peacock Park, and Syuanguang as well as fourteen ecological trails hidden around the lake. Delicious food is always indispensable to attractive scenery, such as mushroom tea eggs showing their own flavor; President fish and Thao feast are also luring visitors. Traditional Thao food served in Thao Harvest Festival in August of the lunar calendar, annual Sun Moon Lake International Swimming Carnival in summer, and Fireworks and Music Carnival in winter create the best activities for Sun Moon Lake.

Having traveled around Sun Moon Lake by Lakeside Bus along Provincial Highway No. 21 Chia, visitors can change the shuttle bus to Checheng at Shuishe Visitor Center. The bus, going along Provincial Highway No. 21, first stops at XiangshanVisitor Center. Sitting in the center, the beautiful scenery of Sun Moon Lake is right in the front. The center has now a popular spot for wedding photos. The nearby museum exhibits the works of Lienguei Chang, who was the only successor of dicranopteris dichotoma weaving and created hundreds of crafts in bottles. Try jumping on the Peaty Soil Basin in Toushe; it is like Mambo dancing on a water bed. Sponge cucumbers hang along the streets in summer. Sponge cucumber water, developed by the people in the community, is the best cosmetics, and sponge cucumber porridge is the best food in summer.

Snake Kiln in Shuili is the oldest kiln in Taiwan. Having the interpreters to introduce the history of pottery, visitors can further DIY some works. In downtown Shuili, don’t miss Taiwanese meat balls and Erhpingshan Ice-lolly. Rafting is a different fun to visit Shuili in summer. Finally, the bus stops at Checheng. Among the narrow alleys, visitors can enjoy the quietness in the secret garden. Or, visit the wood street for DIY; it is another special experience in the tour.

Bagua Mountain - Maolo Stream Route(Nantou City & Chungliao Village)

Taking bus from Taichung, Chunghsin New Village is the first stop for lotus ponds and giant coconut trees. British-style buildings and green tunnels are hidden in streets. Taiwan Historica, located on Kuanming Road, exhibits abundant historical records of Taiwan. The southern Fukien architecture, renaissance style building, and a palace in northern China present distinct characteristics.

Getting in Nantou City, the red Lumei Bridge crossing Maolo Stream is organized complete cycling paths for a relaxing tour. The ancient buildings of Nantou Cultural Park and Lantien Academy are full of historical culture. Taste the famous Nantou Yi noodles when you need a rest. Following County Road No. 139, the border of Nantou County and Changhua County, to the top of Bagua Mountain, Hengshan eagle-watching platform is the best place for watching gray-faced buzzards in March and April. The pineapple farms on the hills are the source of special pineapple cakes.

Chungliao Village, divided into Southern Chungliao and Northern Chungliao, is a peace and quiet paradise. Logans and oranges are the main produce in the village. Visitors can enjoy picking the fruits on their own. In Southern Chungliao, Wuchiu Plants Dyeing and Stone Carving are good experiences in Kuanghsin Tsun. Jiji Railway is the most popular touring route for backpackers. Visitors can change the train from Taichung THSR Station to Erhshui Station in Changhua County and further change Jiji Railway. The total 29.7km long railway stops at five stations in three villages in Nantou County, including Choshui Station in Mingjiang Village, Longchun Station and Jiji Station in Jiji Township, Shuili Station and Checheng Station in Shuili Village. Visitors will experience distinct activities.

In Mingjiang, water spinach planted in cold spring tastes crunchy and sweet. On the way to Jiji, Green Tunnel, plains, fruit farms, and Choshui River are full of surprises.

In Jiji, cycling is the best choice to travel around the town. Cycling from the 100-year-old Jiji Station to Green Tunnel, visitors can DIY pottery in Tienhsin Kiln, visit the shops around Longchun Station, and taste beef noodles. The integration of nature and technology is displayed on Jiji weir. From downtown Jiji, visitors can follow the signs to visit Minghsin Academy, the ancient camphor tree, Military History Park,

and Endemic Species Research Institute. In the cycling tour, various touring spots and relics are worth visiting; and, don’t miss the traditional snacks of beef noodles, deep-fried bananas, Taiwanese meat balls, and stinky tofu. Getting on the railway to the mountain village, Shuili, you may stop for Erhpingshan Ice-lolly before heading the destination, the most beautiful secret garden, Checheng.

In Checheng, parents and children can DIY wooden furniture in Wood Museum, taste the local plum wine in the Brewery, and go through the ancient tunnel for seeking golden bats. With such a railway tour, the abundant touring spots in three villages would enrich your trip.

Visitors, who are not in a hurry, may take Taiwan Tour Shuttle - Checheng─Sun Moon Lake Route at Shuili or Checheng to continue the trip to Sun Moon Lake.

Following Provincial Highway No. 14, Puwu Highway, from Puli to Renai Village, cherry flowers, peach flowers, and plum flowers are welcoming visitors along the way. Taiyi Ecological Leisure Farm and Kuanyin Waterfall create the wonderful trip with flowers, mountain, and water.

Renchihkuang is the pass for the aboriginals and the plainsmen in early age.

Monar-Dao Momentum is standing in Wushe Memorial Park, where visitors might follow the trace of Sedek.Balai in the forest.

Chingching Farm in Renai Village presents a foreign climate. Lying on Evergreen Grasslands, the blue sky is the natural curtain. Sheep and cows are strolling on another side of the hill. Chingching is full of European romantic atmosphere. Visitors can also experience Atayal weave and enjoy the aboriginal food and culture.

Hehuanshan is an attractive place for snowball fight in winter, when visitors well-prepare sufficient food and water and warm clothes. From Fuguei to Tsaotun, the series of mountains, Ninity-nine Peaks, are as wonderful as Gueilin. Shuangshih Drawbridge, crossing Wu Stream, is the longest drawbridge in Taiwan. National Taiwan Craft research and Development Institute in Tsaotun is divided into five halls, where various delicate crafts are exhibited. Visitors can also DIY personal crafts in the institute. Tengyin Academy, Tunluntang, and Fujungtang are the historical academies in Tsaotun, where visitors can experience the ancient elegance of Tsaohsiehtun.

Three optional routes are arranged from Puli. First, visitors can take Nantou Bus to Huisun Forest. On the way, visit Glutinous Rice Bridge crossing Peikang Stream for ancestors’ wisdom; enjoy hot springs in Atayal Resort and Shapa Resort; and relax yourselves on hammocks in Huisun Forest with a cup of coffee.

Second, Puli-Sanhe Bridge Route takes visitors to experience the natural power in Chiufenerhshan Earthquake Educational Park in Nankang Tsun. Nankang Tsun, the home of deer, raises the largest number of deer in Taiwan. Lin Kitchen displays a lot of Hakka relics.

Third, the bus to Tsaotun would take visitors to Chungtang Highway. Strawberry farms in Fuguei allow visitors having the fun of picking strawberries. Stop at Kuohsin Stage for a cup of local coffee or visit Charcoal Museum for the artworks. When passing National Highway No. 6, the sky-high Cloud Highway and the surrounding mountains construct an extraordinary picture.

From the beginning of New Central Cross-Island Highway, Tingkang Tsun in Shuili Village, visitors can follow Provincial Highway No. 16 to visit the home of Plum, Hsinyi Village, experience the changeable cloud sea, and relax in hot springs.

Getting on Yuanlin Bus in Shuili, the first stop, Plum Dream House, is a brewery in Hsinyi. With traditional aboriginal culture, various plum products and plum wine are merely sold in the visitor center. Plenty grape farms in Fengchiu are planted along Choshui River. The lovely purple pearls attract visitors to get few boxes for handy gifts.

Lona Tsun, the largest Bunun settlement in Taiwan, is a new agricultural area for grapes. Before entering Tili Community, visitors would be appealed by the statues, which are the image design of Bunun culture. Christmas activities start from 24th December and continue to 25th. Wanghsiang is the only place to overlook Yushan Main Peak in Taiwan. Complete Bunun living style is remained in the tribe. Visitors can contact Wanghsiang Visitor Center for interpretation and traditional Bunun performance.

Tungpu Hot Springs are naturally formed with smooth water. Tungpu is close to the hiking entrance of Yushan. Shalihsien Natural Park, Yinu Waterfall, Rainbow Waterfall, Yunlong Waterfall, Father-not-know-son Scarp, and the part of Batongguan Historic Trail are worth visiting.
