Welcome to XAT 2012

For more than 60 years XLRI is conducting Admission Test on all India level to selectthe most appropriate students for management education. Our long experience and theexpertise have helped us in extending this test to other Management Institutes.

Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2012 will be conducted on 8th January 2012 by XavierAssociation of Management Institutes (XAMI), an association of likeminded institutes.There are 16 core member institutes and more than 85 associate institutes located indifferent parts of the country. The test would be co-ordinated by XLRI Jamshedpur.

XAT 2012 would be conducted across India in the following cities.

Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Amritsar, Bangalore, Berhampur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar,Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Cuttack, Dehradun, Delhi, Goa, Gurgaon,Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jamshedpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mehboobnagar(A.P),Mumbai, Nagpur, Noida, Patna, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Surat,Trivandrum, Vadodara, Varanasi, Vijaywada, Visakhapatnam.

XAT 2012 would also be conducted across the following four international cities .

Colombo, Dhaka, Dubai, Kathmandu.

Instruction

Applicants should note that registration for XAT 2012 and appearing for XAT 2012 is thepreliminary step towards applying to any of the associate institutes. Applicants todifferent institutes have to apply separately to each of the associate institutes of theirchoice.

Axis Bank has been appointed as the partner bank for the registration process.Applicants for XAT 2012 can use any of the 900 + branches of Axis Bank located all

over the country to make payment for XAT 2012. Alternatively candidates can choose topay online using credit card/ debit card/ online banking.

SECTION A

Procedure for XAT Registration for payment through Axis Bank branchesA candidate has to first register for XAT at xatonline.net.in and then only he / she canmake the payment at branches of Axis Bank.

1.XAT Registration: In order to register online for XAT, the candidate has to visit thewebsite xatonline.net.in and click "XAT Registration". The XAT Registration page opensup wherein he/she has to fill-in the online XAT form. The information to be providedincludes personal details and payment option details.

2.XAT ID and Password: After successful submission of the personal details , thecandidate will immediately get his/her XAT ID and password (which is automaticallygenerated by the system) by email. The candidate has to log in to his/her e-mailaddress provided for registration and validate the mail received by him/her from XAT by

logging in again at xatonline.net.in .

3.Complete Form: The candidate visits xatonline.net.in and clicks XAT Login and logsin using his/her XAT ID and password. The candidate will be prompted to change thepassword on first login only. The ID and this password needs to be retained by thecandidate for future correspondence with XAT Office, downloading XAT Admit card andother transactions at xatonline.net.inThe candidate continues and completes his / her education details.

TO UPLOAD PHOTOGRAPHS AND SIGNATURESPlease note that all applicants are required to upload their scanned(digital) photographsand signature and the file size of each of the Photograph and Signature should not bemore than *50 KB per file. The online application system will not allow to upload fileslarger than 50 KB. All Candidates have to upload his / her Photograph and Signatureonly in "Jpeg" format and file name of Photograph and signature should preferably bephoto.jpeg and sign.jpeg respectively.

For Uploading photograph

i) Take your recent colour passport size photograph in digital format. Thepicture should be taken against a light/white background. In case the face onthe photograph is not clear , your application is liable to be rejected

ii) File size of each of the Photograph should not be more than 50 KB per file ,otherwise it will not be allowed by the System to upload.

iii) To reduce the size, crop the image of the passport size photograph in MSPaint or any other Photo Editor. Please ensure that only the full face portion iscropped and not the entire photograph.

For Uploading signature

i) The candidate himself/herself should sign( no capital letters) on a white paper

with a black ink pen.ii) Scan the signature in 200 dpi( dots per inch) scanner resolution settings and

the file size should be less than 50 kb in jpeg format.

iii) To reduce the size, crop the image of the signature in MS Paint or any otherPhoto Editor. Please ensure that only the signature portion is cropped and notthe entire A4 paper on which you have signed.

iv) Once the photograph and signature files are uploaded by the candidatesuccessfully, the system will show on the screen the Photograph and

Signature that has been uploaded. If these have been correctly uploaded, youshould now proceed further to opt for the payment mode through 'Axis Bank'.

How to ensure that the Photograph and Signature are within 50 KB per file.

i) Should you have a digital or scanned photograph and signature, please openthe same in MS Paint by right clicking the photographs

ii) Press Ctrl + W ,a window will open which will have an option 'resize by %'.Here enter anything between 10 to 50% and save the file with an extension.jpeg.

iii) Check for the size of the file in 'properties'. If the file size is still higher than 50KB, once again open in paint and resize it to bring it down to less than 50KB.

iv) Repeat this process till the file size is less than 50 KB.

v) Save this file with the file Name as mentioned above as photo.jpeg andsign.jpeg

4.Download XAT Pay-in-slip: Next, the candidate has to download and print the XAT

pay-in-slip on an A4 size paper on a single page. Please adjust your printer settingssuitably to take the print on an A4 size paper. The pay-in-slip will have the XAT ID,name of the candidate, address, phone number and date of registration, printed on it.The printed pay-in-slip is in three parts. You have to take all these three parts of thepay-in-slip to the Axis Bank branch.

5.Go to Axis Bank Branch: The candidate has to take this printed XAT Pay-in-slip toany of the Axis Bank branches to make the payment. On tendering Rs 900.00 (beingXAT fees) along with the printed pay-in-slip, the bank will enter the date of payment,Bank Transaction ID, Branch Code and put a bank seal on each part of the pay-in-slip.

The bank will retain the Bank's copy of the pay-in-slip with them and return the rest ofthe pay-in-slip to the candidate.

6.Complete Form: The candidate visits xatonline.net.in and logs in XAT registrationusing his/her XAT ID and password and fills the Bank transaction ID No. and date of

payment. After doing so, XAT Registration Confirmation Page - Cash Mode will openup. Please take a print out of the same .

7.Affix Pay-in-slip: The candidate has to then affix the XAT's copy of the pay-in-slip inthe space provided on the lower half of the XAT Registration Confirmation Page - CashMode. The candidate's copy of the pay-in-slip is to be carefully retained by thecandidate for future reference, if any.

8.Send to XAT Office: The candidate has to then send the XAT RegistrationConfirmation Page - Cash Mode to XAT Office, Jamshedpur through courier/ registeredpost/speed post in a suitable envelope. This should reach the XAT Office, XLRI, Circuit

House Area (East), Jamshedpur-831001 within seven days from the date of payment.

9.Keeping a copy of XAT ID & Password: The candidate is advised to keep a copy ofthe bank Pay-in-Slip, XAT Registration Confirmation Page - Cash Mode printout andnote the XAT ID and password for future correspondence with XAT Office.

10.Download Admit Card: For Admit Card, the candidate has to visit our websitexatonline.net.in, any time between 15 December 2011 and 31 December 2011 and takea print out of the same where the address of the test centre will be mentioned.

4.Make Online Payment: The candidate has the option to make an online paymentusing the Axis Bank payment gateway. The candidate can use a credit card/debit cardor make use of the net banking facility by paying an amount of Rs. 950/- (excludingservice charges and taxes). Please note that American Express cards cannot be usedto make the online payment. To make an online payment, select the online paymentoption on the page . Candidate is taken to the payment gateway of Axis Bank where thepayment mode (credit card/debit/online banking) has to be selected. After a successful

transaction, the candidate will be redirected to the XAT Registration Confirmation Page- Online Payment Mode where transaction details are displayed. This has to be savedand a copy of the same printed.

5.Send to XAT Office: The candidate has to then send the XAT RegistrationConfirmation Page - Online Payment Mode to XAT Office, Jamshedpur through courier/ registered post/speed post in a suitable envelope. This should reach the XAT Office,XLRI, Circuit House Area (East), Jamshedpur-831001.The last date of receipt is 5thDec 2011.

6.Keeping a copy of XAT ID & Password: The candidate is advised to keep a copy ofthe online payment receipt, XAT Registration Confirmation Page - Online PaymentMode printout and note the XAT ID and password for future correspondence with XATOffice.


8.Send to XAT Office: The candidate has to then send the XAT RegistrationConfirmation Page - Cash Mode to XAT Office, Jamshedpur through courier/ registeredpost/speed post in a suitable envelope. This should reach the XAT Office, XLRI, CircuitHouse Area (East), Jamshedpur-831001 within seven days from the date of payment.

Important Notes

Once you finish your registration for XAT you shall be provided with a unique XAT ID &

password.

1. Please note that email to candidate and Login on xatonline.net.in ( Accessed by XATID & password ) will be the standard mode of communication.

2. The email address that you enter in registration form will be treated as your primaryemail address and all communications will also be sent to the same.

3. Please ensure that you provide a valid email address.

4. Please ensure that you use your personal email address only as your primary emailaddress in the application. (If you use your official email address and in case you switch

jobs, it would be difficult for us to communicate with you).

5. Please add [email protected], [email protected] as trustedsources in the anti-Spam software of your email. Otherwise, either you will not receiveimportant emails or they will get delivered to your Spam/junk folder.

6. Please access your emails regularly and ensure that your inbox is accessible.

7. Please note that the XAT ID and password gives you an individual login onwww.xatonline.net.in and on frequent intervals , you need to check for mails from XAT &other associated institutes.

Note: If you do not receive the confirmation message within 24 hours of signing up,

please check your spam/junk folder just in case the confirmation email got deliveredthere instead of your inbox. If you are unable to locate the email, please write [email protected] citing your primary email id or call us up on 1800 102 3256between 8.00 a.m. and 10.00 p.m. ( IST ) if you are unable to reach the customer careexecutive, please write to [email protected]. XAT Associate Institutes

Procedure for applying to other institutions who use XAT for short listing candidates fortheir admission.

The candidate desirous of joining any of the Institutes given in list below has tofollow the steps given below:

a) Register for XAT 2012 at xatonline.net.in

b) Obtain the Application Form after registering online by making appropriatepayment. Further details can be obtained from the respective Institutions websiteor their Admissions office.

Candidates may please note that XLRI does not ascertain quality of the degree or programme(s) offered by other XAT Associate Institutions.

Please note that each institution independently decides the weightages to be given for each of the test components on the basis of its needs.

XLRI does not play any role in selection of the candidates in these institutes.

Note:

1. All payments made for registration for XAT and other institutes are non-refundable.

2. The XAT Score Card containing the performance of the candidate in XAT 2012 willbe mailed individually to all the candidates.
