E-BALL TECHNOLOGY:

THE COMPUTER IN A BALL

Abstract - Today's technology is at its peak point beyond what we could ever imagine. E-Ball pc is a new concept of personal computer. Features like a traditional computer, elements like mouse or keyboard, large screen display, DVDs are all in this computer. Among all the desktops and laptops E-ball pc has is a round shape design computer. It opens by holding and pressing the two buttons on it. You can also connect the optical mouse with the E-Ball. It has a laser keyboard which looks very attractive. It has only 6-inch diameter with 120mm*120mm mother-board which makes it the smallest pc. It does not carry a display unit with it. Instead of it, this has a projector which pops up by a button and focuses the holographic display on the screen. Even it has a paper holder which can work as projector screen.

1 INTRODUCTION

By its way and common shape it looks? Aren't you tired of your PC? Designer Apostol Tnokovski is exactly was feeling when he decided to create the smallest PC ever. New innovations and inventions are emerging on daily basis. An amazing gadget earlier no one would have seen He dressed our imaginations into reality and today we can carry a whole computer in our pocket all the time. New era of the realistic existing world has taken the computer technology like E-ball.

Now a question arises i.e. even though there are many shapes available in nature but why Tnokovski choose this pc to be spherical? According to his opinion it is the best shape in nature and draws everybody's attention.

E-Ball consists of a dual core processor, 2GB of RAM, 250-500GB HDD, integrated sound card and graphic card,2 speakers of 50W, HD-DVD recorder, wireless optical mouse and laser keyboard,

LAN and WLAN card, modem, Web cam and integrated LCD projector. It is very easy to carry, you only need to pack it like a ball and put it in your pocket

But till now it's only a futuristic concept that how the upcoming gadgets will look like and till what extent they can be shrinked.

There is no physical device in it like keyboard, monitor except mouse. It fits into the ball so you don't need to carry it. While working with the Laser Keyboard you also need a smooth surface otherwise you cannot understand what a keyboard look alike and you would not be able to use it.

Through IR sensor E-ball can easily recognize your fingers at a particular place when you are pressing a particular key , while the mouse popping out feature makes this a wonder full and existing piece of technology.

Even though its software interface is very stylized with icons which makes it easy to remember but it can only run on limited number of Platforms

FEATURES OF E-BALL E-Ball consists of the following features

Processor- Its first model is being processed by Intel i3 processor but exact specifications are yet not being disclosed. But it will cover various mid-ranges to high-end costumers by changing the microprocessors which are made by Intel. The processor line-up follows the order i.e.

Now detach the mouse and open the laser keyboard. It's already discussed that it does not have any display unit.so either focus its projection on wall or you can use a paper stand.

Even it does have a button for projector which will pop out as projector and when you are not working on the paper sheet, instead you are working on a wall you will need to use the navigation keys which let you focus the screen. It is very easy to handle its navigation keys. When you want to use a paper then you will need to press the button on the lower back side of the ball which will open the paper holder. Now the paper sheet will act as like a screen but you need a good quality paper which will enhance display quality. You can use this sheet for working on pc, watching movies, making presentations, playing games etc.

While you are working on E-ball, laser keyboard will be activated which looks very attractive but it is a virtual keyboard since it is not physically present there. This uses a laser-ray technique which recognise your finger by IR sensor.

The IR sensor analyse your finger motion, its location, tapping of finger and print the relevant data on the screen.

3.Intel core i7

4.It may process the Intel core i9 as it will be going to release but it has not been disclosed.

RAM- Bits are used to measure the memory, RAM stands for Random Access Memory means memory can be accessed from anywhere randomly. Generally, it will be having multiple models according to processors but it will generally process 2GB of RAM in the very basic model.

Hard drive- This is the secondary storage of the computer. It is the non-volatile memory. We can directly access the data through this memory. It will support A hard disk of 500GB.

Graphic Card-It is an expansion card to generate the high-resolution multimedia outputs. They are very much used where we need rendering of 2-D and 3-D images. It will allow you to play with animation in your computer. It is also a very common feature needed in today's computer and E-ball support Graphic Card as well as Sound Card.

Display- It does not support normal LCD display, but it uses a projector which focuses the display on an object. If you are not near an object, it also carries a paper holder where we can focus our display on the sheet of Paper.

Laser Keyboard-Unlike the normal button Keyboard, it will possess a laser ray technique keyboard. It will be using an IR sensor which will be used to record your finger movements and analyze which key is pressed. Though it seems a bit clumsy type of Input device.

Optical Mouse – You don't need to carry any special mouse, it has its own detachable mouse which also uses the laser ray technique. It uses laser to track mouse movement which seems faster than the Light Emitting Diodes. It doesn't require cleaning.

III.WORKING OF E-BALL

It is designed in such a manner that you can easily place it anywhere as it can be fixed on its two stands. Its design is so simple that anyone can easily understand. There are two buttons over the top of it. You just need two press the power button for it, this will automatically open.

3. PATTERN PROJECTOR

It presents the information produced by output of virtual keyboard or the optical mouse. It can project the image on any surface but to understand the image you will need a flat surface, it may be a wall or a paper whatever.

It features a wide-angle lens which can be adjusted using the navigation keys. It does not include any other input device to process the information. The sensor and projector process the information and projector produces the 3-D output.

The software interface of the E-Ball is very impressive and stylized with icons that can be easily remembered. It supports the window operating system. There are only five easy steps to remember while working on an E-Ball.

1. Press the power button and hold it for 5 seconds till it opens

2. Adjust the LCD Projectors using the navigation keys

3. Detach the optical mouse

4. Open the virtual keyboard

5. Activate all the elements

1. SENSOR MODULE

It acts as the main module for the keyboard perception technology. Mouse movements are also tracked by sensor module. It operates in a 3-D space by tracing user's fingers and tracking the keystrokes. After all the analyst gathering it process the output using the electronic perception technology

The advantage of using the Electronic Perception Technology over the Classical Technology is provide 3-D presentation of the Images which reduces the complexity which helps in developing pocket-sized electronics.

2.IR LIGHT SOURCE

It consists of an Infrared Light Source which emits a beam of light. It overlaps the area which help it to analyse the keystroke. Then, the gathered information is processed by the IR Sensor which produce the desired output.

CONCLUSION

The computer size is becoming smaller as the year passesE-Ball design is given by Apostol Tnokovski. He was trying to create the smallest PC in the world when he came across this idea. It is shaped like a sphere because in Tnokovski's opinion this is the best shape in nature and it draws everybody's attention.you'll see the pop-out laser mouse, a projector inside that illuminates either the wall or a sheet of paper for a screen, and that laser keyboard that would almost certainly be a clumsy input device. Fix that, and find a motherboard that'll fit inside this palm-sized baby, and Apostol might be onto something here. E-Ball will feature a dual core processor, 250-500GB HDD, 2GB of RAM, integrated graphic card and sound card, 2 x 50W speakers, HD-DVD recorder, wireless optical mouse and laser keyboard, LAN and WLAN card, modem, Web cam and integrated LCD projector.

VII DISADVANTAGES OF E-BALL

A. COSTLY

It will very costly nearly 150$ to $200 which makes it out of range for normal people

B. USED TO VIRTUAL KEYBOARD

In the very beginning it is very difficult to work with virtual keyboard. It is not easy to work in air

C. NEED OF DARK ROOM

If the room is too bright keyboard will not be visible properly which will make it difficult to work

D. TRACING HARDWARE PROBLEM

If there occurs any problem in the hardware of the E-Ball, it is nearly impossible to trace since it is very compact.

E. OPERATING SYSTEM

It will not be available for all the platforms so you will stick to a particular platform.
