Welcome Letter2011 Dutchess County Tourism Travel GuideAd Reservation Deadline: February 1, 2011Publication Date: March 1, 2011
December 2010
Dear Dutchess County Business Owner,
We are pleased to announce the beginning of advertising sales for the Dutchess County Tourism 2011 Travel
Guide. Luminary Publishing, publishers of Chronogram magazine, is proud to be partnering with Dutchess
County Tourism again, and we plan to bring you another wonderful guide to our County.
EARLY BIRD DISCOUNTS
We have kept prices flat for 2011, and further, we are offering a 15% early-bird discount when you com-
plete your space reservation before December 1, 2010. Reservations completed after that date will be
charged 2010 prices.
A LOOK BACK
The 2010 year was a great year for Dutchess County Tourism despite global difficulties. Highlights included the
opening of three new restaurants and six new bed and breakfasts. Hotel occupancy tax in 2010 was up 6% and
the number of riders on Metro North increased for visitors to the Dutchess County Fair and Farm Fresh.
FAST FORWARD TO 2011
The coming year promises to be even better. Over 750,000 people have visited the Walkway over the Hud-
son, and with continued work on the Walkway to install an elevator, there will be better access for those
at every level of mobility. Among the many events planned for 2011 is Restaurant Week, which returns in
March. Due to the popularity of area restaurants, Saturdays have been added to the schedule. Area historic
sites have added experiential tours to bring visits to life during New York’s second Heritage Weekend (a
reduced admission event). The Hudson River Valley Ramble in September offers hundreds of coordinated
events throughout the region. Dutchess County farms continue to offer locally made products, tours and
interactive experiences to visitors, while lodging in County hotels and B&Bs continues to offer world-class
hospitality. A new marina next to Shadows on the Hudson in Poughkeepsie now provides water taxi service
to Newburgh’s waterfront, and our thriving art scene continues to attract new galleries.
2011 will be a wonderful year to promote tourism in the Hudson Valley. Dutchess County Tourism Travel
Guide is the place to showcase your business. Call soon to reserve your space and take advantage of our
early-bird offers.
Love where you are!
Sincerely,
Jason C. Stern
