But these nations are catching up fast and if they do

catch up then numbers in Medical Tourism in future will

gradually come down. Middle Eastern countries like

UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain are already

as good as any other country in the world in terms of

equipments, facilities etc and the number of patients

from these countries for medical tourism have already

dwindled say from the numbers in ‘90’s.The future of

Medical Tourism in India should not be taken for granted

Constipation in childrenConstipation in children is very much a neglected topic in

pediatrics. Almost 5-10% of children are suffering from

constipation at some point of time in their life.

Constipation means passing hard and/or infrequent

stools. Children suffering from constipations are seen

crying very much while passing stool. Even their mothers

sometimes cry looking at the problems of their kids.

Very few doctors are expert in treating constipation in

children. Very few investigations and very few

The most common cause of constipation in children

is habitual, but it needs to be differentiated from other

organics causes of constipation like

Knee joint replacement(TKA) has been one of the

11 uterine tumours removed from Russian woman

It took 20 long years for Galena Romanchenko to

finally get rid of her multiple fibroids and save her

uterus so that she can embrace motherhood. At the

age of 22, Romanchenko was diagnosed with tumours

inside her womb in Ukraine and the doctors there had

advised her to have the uterus removed. Not ready to

give up the prospect of becoming a mother ever,

Romanchenko continued to visit doctors, including

practitioners of traditional medicine all over Russia and

other countries.

However, all of them said that there were too many

complications and asked to get the uterus removed.

When she got married a few years back,

Romanchenko ended up in Ahmedabad. Here a city-

based gynecologist helped her

get rid of all the tumours and

salvaged her womb.

“In total, 11 tumours were

removed from her uterus. A few of

them were the size of oranges

while the biggest was 25x20 cm.

All of them were extricated from

the walls and then removed. We

could salvage the uterus which

was the priority for

Romanchenko,” said Dr Mehul

Damani.

The doctor said that the surgery was challenging but

they wanted to give the best possible shot at saving the

uterus as Romanchenko had spent over 20 years of her

life avoiding a surgery that would render her wombless.

Needless to say, Romanchenko is happy and is

planning to give nature a chance to help her conceive a

child. She has given herself three months time as she

will also need to recover from the surgery. If she does

not conceive naturally by then, Galena will come to

Ahmedabad to conceive a child through IVF.
