Dear Parents/Carers
Parent Survey Questionnaire
Please look out for the parent survey
questionnaire which will be coming out
immediately after the Half Term.
We do this every year as it is important
for us to know your views about Durants
and the service we provide for you and
your children.
We need to know what things we are
doing well as well as what we are not
doing well, so we can make
improvements. When you receive it,
please take a few minutes to complete it
and return it to the school office.
Parents Evening
Advance notice that Parents Evening will
be on Wednesday 28 June. Invitation
letters will be coming home shortly.
Please book a time to come in to meet
your child’s class team. This will give
you the chance to see the work your
child has done through the year and
discuss their progress.
The Therapy Team will also be available
for you to talk with about any therapy
sessions your child might have.
Best wishes for a lovely Half Term!

Our new updated Durants School website was launched last week. Karly Barker, our School Business Manager and Costa Vrahimis, our IT Manager worked very hard to get it up and running. Please visit it at www.durants.enfield.sch.uk and let us know what you think of the new site and layout.

This term Silver Class has been working hard perfecting a variety of extravagant recipes to sell across the school. The seasonal menu has included traditional vegetarian favourites such as leek and potato, winter vegetable, roasted red lentil and fresh tomato and basil soup. All the soups were expertly prepared from scratch by the ‘Souper’ Silver Class pupils and used only fresh ingredients. Unfortunately the ‘Silver Souper Soup’ kitchen is now closed.
The good news is; next term the ‘Silver Select Summer Sandwich Co’ will be making a variety of seasonal sandwiches and salads to sell. Silver Class will continue learning and practicing valuable life skills in addition to money handling and experience entrepre-neurial activities. All the proceeds from ‘Silver Souper Soup’ and ‘Silver Select Summer Sandwich Co’ sales are going to support outings and opportunities to develop positive social skills and experiences.
On behalf of DEAL, we would like to thank everyone who supported our ‘World Autism Awareness Day’ Event which was held on Wednesday 29 March 2017.
Pupils and parents/carers had a lovely day celebrating with lots of fun activities from trampolining, sensory activities, Wii games, to face painting!
We had performances from our singers followed by our grand balloon launch!
We would also like to thank the Parent Council for all the help on the day!
With all your help, DEAL managed to raise an amazing £398.10!

On Monday 22 May 2017, Red Class and Indigo Class, along with Stanley from Beige Class, visited ‘Airbus Foundation Discovery Space’ as part of their Science Curriculum.
The center features educational exhibits to promote fun ways to explore Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.
The pupils took part in the interactive Science show ‘What’s the Matter’ and a Science workshop ‘Slime To Go’, as well as a viewing gallery connecting with ongoing engineering activities associated with the build and test of the European Space Agency’s ExoMars Rover in the Mars Yard.
Pupils and staff had a lovely time and learnt so much about space!
On Thursday 25 May 2017, pupils from Emerald, Bronze, Lilac, Silver and Yellow Classes took part in ‘Durants Lip Sync Battle!’
Pupils enjoyed lip syncing to a range of different songs from Bruno Mars, Ariana Grande, Little Mix to Bob Mar-ley to name a few, in order to battle it out to win the competition!
Lots of fun was had by all five classes!
The school photographs were once again a huge
success this year!
There were lots of lovely smiles and some cheeky
posers!
Durants School would like to say a very big thank
you once again to Michael O'Sullivan for having such
patience with our pupils and for taking time with
each individual pupil to produce such lovely
photographs.

Durants News
On Wednesday 24 May 2017, Pink Class spent the day at ‘Southend Beach’ as part of their Geography Curriculum.
They completed a scavenger hunt of things they can find at the beach. They looked at these things in their Geography lessons and it was exciting to see and collect these things at the beach!
They ended their trip with a ‘Fish and Chips’ lunch and went for a paddle in the sea!
Pink Class would like to thank their class parents/carers and DEAL for making this trip possible!
