provided me the launch pad to lay the foundation of this firm. I have been actively associated with IITs and various

other engineering colleges as a guest lecturer and published numerous articles in leading journals / magazines to

using construction chemicals for RCC structures.

FAQs

Q1. How to go about waterproofing of terrace?A1. First prepare the surface by cleaning dirt, grit and grease followed by application of mortar gola using DURAKRIT along the horizontal and

vertical edges. Dampen the surface so that it is Saturated Surface Dry (SSD). Then waterproofing should be carried out by applying the 3 coats of DURAGARD taking care the subsequent coat is applied after the previous coat is touch dry. Use of glass fibre mesh between the coats is highly recommended. Provide a protective coating of 1:4 cement sand mortar.

Please Note: DURAGARD can also be used for the waterproofing of swimming pool/ water tanks/ basement and terrace gardens. Please

refer our literature.

Q2. In a flat system upper floor bathroom is leaking and causing dampness & efflorescence of the room wall underneath. What is the solution without disturbing the upper floor residents?

A2. By fixing nozzle at 0.3m apart in the wall, grouting should be carried out with a mixture of DURAKRIT-CEMENT admixed with non-shrink expanding grout admixture i.e. DURA-EV followed by application of DURAKRIT-CEMENT slurry.

Q3. What is the solution for:Q(i) Preventing the flow of water from the water tank in the form of jet?A(i) Our instant plugging compound like Dura 2 is very useful in this situation in conjunction with cement. (Check out the Dura 2 literature for

application details)Q(ii) Avoiding the sweating of walls?A(ii) This could be prevented by using our moderate setting compound like Dura 3 in conjunction with 1:2::Cement: sand mortar.Q(iii) Preventing the continuous flow of water inside the tunnel?A(iii) The flow of water could be stopped by injecting DURAJEL through the nozzle against water flow.

Q4. In the ground floor of flats, often dampness upto 3 feet height of wall has been observed which cause the spalling or removal of wall plaster and paint. How to counteract such a problem?

A4. The rise of water upto 3 feet is due to the capillary action. The plaster should be removed from the affected area. Nozzle should be fixed in staggered pattern 0.3 m apart and DURAINJECTO should be injected through the nozzle followed by plastering with DURAKRIT.

Q5. Do you have any protective coating which can keep interiors cool in summer and warm in winters?A5. DURA THERMOKOTE can be used for maintaining thermal insulation upto 10°C to 12°C.

FAQs

Q1 How can we improve slump retention performance of concrete along with good water reduction economically?A1. Our PCE based range i.e. DURA SUPALATE can be used to reduce water beyond 30% along with excellent slump retention for longer duration.

For similar W/C ratios, it helps in cement saving upto 30% and at constant cement content, it increases strength by 35% - 40% due to its increase dispersing effect.

It is available in different grades tailored to meet the functional as well as economic requirements at site.

Q2. Where should we use DURASUPASPRED?A2. DURASUPASPRED is available in 2 versions - normal i.e. DURASUPASPRED and retarded i.e. DURASUPASPRED 500/ 400C.

The normal version may be used for high slump concrete which has to be used in 30 mins. Also super water reduction can be achieved which would result in 25-30% strength development very quickly.

The retarded version may be used where slump has to be maintained for a longer period of time and strength development needs to be gradual. It is highly useful for pumping concrete.

Q3. What is the purpose of using DURAMICROSILICA?A3. It is used where it is difficult to achieve the desired strength of concrete especially for high strength concrete M50 and above.

Q4. Shotcreting operation in a tunnel leads to rebound loss of concrete up to 40% and the possibily of washout through the oozed water is very high. How can this be resolved?

A4. The same can be resolved by using our SHOTCRETE accelerator i.e. DURASHOT P/L in wet as well as dry process. Alkali containing accelerators may have strength loss to the extent of 30%. In such cases using alkali free accelerators i.e. DURASHOT LAF is strongly recommended where strength fall would be minimum.

Q5. The presence of high chloride levels in mixing water may lead to corrosion of reinforcement of concrete over a period of time. Do you have any material to counteract this hazard?

A5. Corrosion is the biggest deterioration mechanism of a structure leading to crores of rupees wasted in the repair and rehabilitation annually. To counteract this problem, we have DURACOROBIT 60 that can be used at the rate of 0.7L per m3 of concrete which neutralises the effect of chloride.

Q6. How can we carry out curing of vertical surfaces or regions where there is a shortage of water?A6. To ensure continuous hydration and strength development of concrete, curing is important. Our curing compounds like DURACURE can be

used for such purpose.

Q7. Use of mobil oil, cow dung as a shutter release causes scouring/pitting of concrete surface. What other alternatives do we have?A7. DURAMOL, a high quality mould release agent can be used having better release property.

FAQs

Q1. How can structural members be joined to each other? How can cantilever extension be carried out from the existing surface?A1. Here the use of structural adhesives like DURAXYBOND is recommended. It is applied on the existing surface followed by placing fresh

concrete.

Q2. Do you have any products for joining structural members as in the case of segmental bridge construction?A2. Our segmental bridge adhesive i.e. DURAXY SBA can be used in such cases.

Q3. Rain water enters inside the rooms of building through walls. How can we waterproof external walls?A3. The external wall surface should be impregnated/ applied with 2 coats of DURAPEL W/S.

Q4. What is the solution for preventing fall of bathroom/kitchen tiles and water seepage from tile joints?A4. The tile should be fixed with DURAFIX 1P/2P and the joints should be filled with DURATILOFIL. The tiles fall due to shrinkage or due to

expansion of air entrapped between the tile and the wall.

Q5. How can we resolve the poor strength of factory floor surface resulting in scouring and wear & tear?A5. DURAHARD can be used which makes the surface highly impermeable and abrasion resistant.

Q6. How can porosity/honeycombing of concrete structure be reduced to a maximum extent?A6. This can be done in 2 ways:

a) The cement paste must be admixed with DURA EV (Non shrink polymeric grouting compound). This slurry must then be introduced into the structure through grout pump.b) Also ready to use grout like DURAGROUT E1 (only the required quantity of water needs to be added) can be injected.

Q7. Sometimes dust accumulates on the factory floor due to release of lime. How can such a problem be resolved?A7. Such a problem can be solved using floor sealer i.e. DURAFLORSIL/DURAFLORHARD.

Q8. How can base plate be grouted so that it is perfectly levelled for the subsequent erection of machine?A8. This can be done by forming a hydrostatic head pocket through which fluid DURAGROUT GP2 can be poured to complete the base plate

grouting. For dynamic load, our epoxy grout i.e. DURAXYGROUT L/S can be used.

Q9. The core cut from a concrete slab is showing low strength. How can I restore the structural strength without demolishing the structure?2A9. DURAXYGROUT LV can be injected inside the concrete and can give strength upto 1000 kg./cm in 3 days.

FAQs

Q1. Sometimes deep cracks appear on the concrete surface and in some cases spalling is observed. How can this be resolved?A1. Cracking and de-lamination may be due to corrosion. The steel surface has to be prepared to remove rust/loose particles sticking to it (by

sandblasting), succeeded by one of the following alternatives:a) The prepared surface must be coated with DURARUSTOBIT to prevent further corrosion. This should be followed by filling the

surrounding area with mass-in-fill (Mass-in-fill refers to Cement: Sand: DURAKRIT mortar mixed in the ratio 1: 2.75: 0.5 followed by adding requisite amount of water).

b) The prepared surface must be coated with DURARUSTOBIT followed by application of DURAXY primer. Then the surrounding area of the concrete should be filled with DURAXY RM (2 pack system).

c) Treat the steel rod with DURAKRIT: cement slurry in the ratio 1:2 followed by mass-in-fill as in (a).

Q2. The strength along with the load bearing capacity of the structural element gets diminished due to corrosion/ sulphate attack. How can such a problem be addressed?

A2. Prepare the steel surface preparation as above. Then jacketing should be carried out using DURAMICROKRIT (Very high strength micro concrete powder) to achieve the desired strength. DURAXYBOND needs to be used as a bonding agent to promote adhesion between existing substrate and repair material.

Q3. How do we fill tie rod hole with a durable and ready to use sealant?A3. DURAFLEX PS, single pack PU sealant can be used such cases and forms a water proof & weather proof bond to substrate.

Q4. How can we resolve cracking of window and door joints due to movement between 2 elements? A4. This can be solved by using DURACRYL MP, joint sealing compound. It can be used for filling gaps and joints in concrete, doors, windows, etc.

Our silicone sealant range i.e. DURASILICO can also be used in such cases.

PULL-OFF ADHESION TESTER

WFT gauge conforming to ASTM D4414 helps the applicator at site in determining how much material to apply or spray to achieve the specified dry film thickness. This instrument can be used on different variety of surfaces (concrete, steel, etc) with varying shapes (flat, curved).

Water permeability apparatus helps in estimating the efficiency of the coating system with regards to its ability to resist moisture or chloride ingress before and after in-situ application of the material; thereby determining the durability of the concrete structure. It conforms to DIN 1048: Part 5, CRD-C 48-92 & BS 1881: Part 122.
