Chief Instructor: Shihan Andrew Turner, 5 th Dan Club Secretary Keith Stubbs DKK NEWSLETTER November 2014 DIARY DATES 16 th November 2014 – England Squad Training Session – St Joseph College, Beulah Hill, London, SE19 3HL 11.00am – 2.00pm cost £5.00 (open for all junior & cadets blue belts and above) All junior and cadet students (as well as new students) are always welcome to these squad sessions. If you wish to be considered for selection you must attend squad sessions. (Please bring your pads and licence’s) 22 nd November 2014 - British National Individual & Team Clicker Tournament Montem Leisure Centre, Montem Lane, Slough, SL1 2GQ (open for Red belts and above). Would all students wishing to take part in this year’s clicker tournament please let Shihan Andrew know by Saturday 15 th November at the latest so that he can submit DKK’s entry to the tournament? Also would all students wanting to travel to the tournament by mini bus please let Shihan Andrew know so that he can finalise travel arrangements (if anyone can help by driving the mini bus on the day can you please let Shihan Andrew know). All parents that are travelling by car might want to meet up with the mini bus (outside Queen Vic Pub at 7.30am) so that we can travel in convoy. Please note that DKK continues to fund tournament entrance fees for all participating students however if students pull without a good reason you will have to reimburse the club. 13 th December 2014 – Inter Club Competition, Felsted School (times to be confirmed) We are hoping to arrange our Christmas inter club competition for all Juniors from Dunmow, Saffron Walden, Leyton and Biggleswade on this date. This competition will only go ahead if there are sufficient fighters so can you please let Shihan Andrew know as soon as possible if you want to participate in this competition. 6 th January 2015 – Beginners Course Dunmow Leisure Centre. Juniors 6-7pm and Seniors 8-10pm Any student that’s brings along a new member can have two training sessions free! DKK STUDENT RECORDS There are still many students who have not returned their student record forms. Would any student (juniors and seniors) who have not yet returned their form, please do so at your next training session. If you need another form, please ask! SEVERN CHALLENGE – CUP OF EUROPE Congratulations to Amber Morris and Kaan Yildirim for representing England in the Severn Challenge- Cup of Europe tournament in Cheshunt on the 25 th October. Both of these students were in the England team that beat Switzerland and Ireland earning the team second place. Wales ended up being the team event winners. In the individual’s event, Amber Morris came second. Luke Stubbs was also selected for the tournament but unfortunately had to withdraw due to injury. BKK MEMBERSHIP DETAILS Would ALL students PLEASE log on to the BKK website and update your personal details. It is important for each and every BKK member in each and every dojo to update their details whenever there is a change in circumstances. The Database should be up to date at all times and it is with your help that this can be achieved. See www.bkk-uk.com for details CHRISTMAS PARTIES This year’s Juniors Christmas party will be on Wednesday 10 th December. Activity and venue to be confirmed. We will probably organise another bowling party at Braintree however if anyone can suggest an alternative please let Shihan Andrew know. The Senior’s party has been booked for Saturday 20 th December at Square One, Dunmow. The meal is open to all senior students over sixteen and any parents who wish to come along and get to know all the instructors who teach your children and to celebrate another successful year for the club and its students! CLUB GRADING Next grading will be on the 22 nd December. Hall and time to be confirmed. Shihan Andrew will let the students know in advance who can attempt their grading. Students must have an up to date licence (or applied for one) and a clean Gi with all badges sewn on correctly.
