Many times while waiting forthe fish to be trapped, the

    mind gets diverted and one

    misses the fish. This fishing

intimate that the bait has been

    bitten by the fish.

    Four sided television*

    Bappi Ray

    West Bengal

In most of the meetings in rural areas,

people prefer to sit in a circle so that they

can look at each other and at the same

time, enjoy a bonfire in the winter or a folk

theatre performance. At present, all modesof visual communication require people to

sit behind each other and face other

    personsbacks.

The suggestion from Bappi was of a four-

sided television, which would make itpossible for people to sit in a circle and

    watch programme, while having frontal

    view of each other.

Preventing Clothes from Being Wet in Rain

    Piyush Agarwal, Class XI, Hazaribag

When it rains, a motor may get

    triggered by salt that absorbs

    atmospheric moisture. It would pull

the rope inside on which clothes are

hung. This may save housewives, an

    additional chore

    Compact Stair Case

Instead of cemented stairs, there could be

hollow wooden stairs where possible. Inthese hollow spaces, one can design

drawers with the latest channels and locks

so that they do not open when one climbs

the stairs. This can help us to utilize the

    space optimally in a house.

    Television Light Obstructing Screen

In our homes, when someone is watching

television and others want to sleep in thesame room, the light emitted by the

television disturbs them. Such screens can

be designed which can prevent the

diffusion of light rays in the entire room and

keep them restricted to one direction.

    Flameless Seal Maker

The traditional way of sealing coversor boxes using lac heated at a very

high temperature is a hazardous job

and has been used in India since the

Mughal Era. The flameless seal maker

eliminates the use of fire to melt lac

and also ensures perfect shape(uniform seal imprint). Just fill the

device with lac, plug it into power

supply and one can then control the

flow of the lac with a piston. There is

little chance of getting burns too.

    Intelligent Traffic System

Meenakshi Padhi, Class VIII, Angul, Orissa

Her idea is to have remote sensor enabled traffic signal systems

that are integrated with ambulances. This would help in cases of

an emergency, when the ambulance can send the signal to the

traffic system to clear the roads or reduce congestion

    Saving money through mobile phone

    Praanshu Goyal, Class X, Agra

Praanshu has suggested a model to save money while

recharging/using mobile phones. A percentage of each recharge

would be deposited in users account by the service provider. This

the service provider will use in various investments and the user

may withdraw the any amount as per his/her requirement as per the

    portfolio status/savings.

    Pressure Detector for Water Pipelines

In a lot of places in India, there is water

supply for one or two hours only in a day.People have to keep turning taps on every

few minutes to check the water supply.

Hence, a pressure detector fitted in the

pipeline rings an alarm bell immediately on

sensing the flow of water; thus alerting

    people.
