Pastor David is an expert fiddler & preacher.
He used to play fiddle with Garth Brooks,
and he says his wife plays better than he does!
There will be some hand clapping and foot tap-
ping music that day. He will also preach a ser-
mon entitled , “The Touch of the Master’s
Hand” Invite a friend!

Holy Thursday April 17, 6:30 pm
Lent is almost over. People tell me about their Lenten disciplines. One man said he wants to give up
FEAR for Lent. What a fine goal! A second person is devoting one 60 minute period a week to unin-
terrupted prayer. He asked me to check him on how it is going. A third person cut down drastically
on consumption of TV. When you think of it, a lot of TV fare is either a waste of time or tends to di-
lute or even contaminate the pure heart that sees God. The process can be quite slow. Consider.
“The boiling frog story is a widespread anecdote describing a frog slowly being
boiled alive. The premise is that if a frog is placed in boiling water, it will jump out,
but if it is placed in cold water that is slowly heated, it will not perceive the danger
and will be cooked to death. The story is often used as a metaphor for the inability
or unwillingness of people to react to significant changes that occur gradually.
According to contemporary biologists the premise of the story is not literally true; a frog submerged
and gradually heated will jump out.” There is one exception, if the frog’s brain is removed (I assume
this is possible), the frog will not jump out! The metaphor lends itself to many applications, such as: A) slow erosion of
civil rights – Libertarians, B) impending collapse of civilization – Survivalists, C) inaction in abusive relationships –
Battered spouses, D) indifference to world climate changes – Environmentalists, etc…
I do have to wonder if godly morals are being cooked to death, and people with them. The late Michael Landon was of-
ten described as a model of Family entertainment in Little House on the Prairie. He was at a Hollywood party at Dean
Martin’s home in 1975. He said to the guests, “Let’s face it, television is an invention where you’re entertained in your
living room by people you wouldn’t have in your house!” The self-inflicted jab stirred a mixture of laughter and cha-
grin from the biggest stars of the day. Those of us old who are old enough may realize the scale of descent since 1975.
Over the next few weeks we seek to center our attention on the things of God during (1) Holy Week, and (2) May Re-
vival. Make time. Set aside ½ hour to pray from 6 to 6 on Wed Apr. 16 (see page one for details). Plan now to attend
Revival services with The Storyteller on May 4-7 & The Fiddler on April 27. Become Easter Butterflies not boiled frog!

Children’s

Behold, the upcoming hunt for
excessive amounts of candy hid-
den in eggs approaches quickly!
On the next page you’ll see the facts, so let’s go over a
few details. We will meet outside with all the kids we
can find. Kids who can toddle through 5th grade are
invited to participate, please invite anyone you may
know in that range to have fun with us. We will be
outdoors unless the weather turns foul. A few adults
will be needed to “hide” eggs, make sure the children
follow safety protocols, and run the welcome and
bunny money store tables. Let me know if you could
help out—the kids are so much fun to watch so don’t
miss out. Thank you so much to everyone who has
donated candy so far! We need a fair bit more so
please keep it coming. Every little bit helps!
