DPS INTERNATIONAL, R K PURAM NURSERY SUMMER HOLIDAY COMPANION 2016 Dear Parents, Summer vacations are the most appropriate time for the students to refresh and rejuvenate themselves. Children have ample energy which needs to be channelized in the right direction to get the best out of them. Keeping this in mind, we have designed the holiday homework ‘My Summer Companion’ to make them more observant and confident. We firmly believe that children must develop love for books from a very young age. To open a world of discoverythis summer and to inculcate the habit of reading among our little ones, we have included activities based on the story ‘The Very Hungry Catterpillar’ and ‘The Enormous Turnip’. We have tried to make the work enjoyable keeping in mind their interest. Hope our little ones enjoy doing the same with their respective families. Moms may want to add in more special activities like swimming, table tennis, art, dance, music etc to build those fond memories.Train your child to become independent in his daily chores. So, go ahead, spend constructive, creative and useful time with your child and have fun watching them take pride in their small accomplishments. PS: Bring holiday homework in a neatly decorated and labelled folder. Originality of the work will be appreciated.

NURSERY SUMMER HOLIDAY COMPANION 2016

Dear Parents,

Summer vacations are the most appropriate time for the students to refresh and rejuvenate themselves. Children have ample

energy which needs to be channelized in the right direction to get the best out of them. Keeping this in mind, we have designed the

holiday homework ‘My Summer Companion’ to make them more observant and confident.

We firmly believe that children must develop love for books from a very young age. To open a world of discoverythis summer and to

inculcate the habit of reading among our little ones, we have included activities based on the story ‘The Very Hungry Catterpillar’ and

‘The Enormous Turnip’.

We have tried to make the work enjoyable keeping in mind their interest. Hope our little ones enjoy doing the same with their

respective families. Moms may want to add in more special activities like swimming, table tennis, art, dance, music etc to build those

fond memories.Train your child to become independent in his daily chores. So, go ahead, spend constructive, creative and useful time

with your child and have fun watching them take pride in their small accomplishments.

PS: Bring holiday homework in a neatly decorated and labelled

folder. Originality of the work will be appreciated.

Body Smart Make your child more

independent by teaching him/her various

activities like:

Buttoning and unbottoning the shirt.

Arranging their toyshelf.

Learning to wear shoes and socks.

Keeping plate in the kitchen after eating.

Following two or three step instructions

eg, “ Go to your room, bring me a book and

switch off the lights.’

Enjoying activities like running, throwing,

catching, skipping, climbing etc. that

require good control over the whole body.

My Daily Chores Summer vacation is an

ideal time to inculcate some good habits

of doing some of their task

independently. A colorful motivational

worksheet 8 is attached here for the

parent’s help. Parents can select any 1

week to do this on paper. Read the

activity for the day to the child. A little

reward goes a long way in building self-

esteem. We suggest that the parents

give a golden star on the completion of a

specified task in the given worksheet.

Assignments to be done in the

she going? What will happen next? And so on.

Read the story along side. After reading the

middle and end. Suggested Reading List:

King Dad Crown

You will need:

Strip of Gold card big enough to go around Dad’s head

Embellishments – including sticky letters

Glue

Stapler or sticky tape

Use stickers to add the words ‘King Dad’. Decorate the crown.

Staple or tape the ends together to secure.

OR

Dad Photo Frame You will need:

A5 card (we used A4 and cut in half)

Stickers and any other embellishments that you have

Glue

3 Photographs

Instructions:

1. Draw two D’s and an A shape onto the card, and cut out. Use a small pair

of scissors to cut out the inside of the letters, too (younger children will need adult help or supervision).

2. Decorate your letters. We simply used stickers but you can use gems, ribbons, sequins, pompoms or anything else from

your craft box.

3. Glue a photo to the back of each letter so that it fills the aperture. Trim any overhanging bits of photo away.

4. Layer the letters so they overlap slightly, spelling out the word "Dad", and glue together.

5. You could laminate the photo frame to make it last, or enclose the whole thing within a larger Perspex frame.
