Song of Assembly1

When I Think About the Lord HueyWhen I think about the Lord,

How He saved me, how He raised me,How He filled me, with the Holy Ghost.

How He healed me, to the uttermost.

When I think about the Lord,How He picked me up and turned me around,

How He placed my feet on solid ground

It makes me wanna shout, Hallelujah,Thank you JESUS,

LORD, your worthy, of all the glory, and all the honor, and all the praise... It makes me wanna shout!

Welcome and Preparation for Worship“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day.” - Jesus (John 6:44)

If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was madefor another world. ~ C. S. Lewis

Your dead shall live; their bodies shall rise. You who dwell in the dust, awake and sing for joy! For your dew is a dew oflight, and the earth will give birth to the dead. ~ The Prophet Isaiah

Those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. ~ The Prophet Daniel

For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has been thus destroyed, yet in my flesh I shall see God, whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another. My heart faintswithin me! ~ Job, the servant of God

Enter His Gates With Thanksgiving(Psalm 100:4)

Responsive Call to Worship2 Daniel 2:20; 4:34-35; 6:26Pastor: Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might!

People: For his dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom endures from generation to generation; all theinhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, and he does according to his will among the host of heaven and amongthe inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand or say to him, “What have you done?”

All: For he is the living God, enduring forever; his kingdom shall never be destroyed, and his dominion shall be to theend!

Prayer of Adoration & Praise

Hymn of Praise

Come Christians, Join to Sing BatemanCome, Christians join to sing, Alleluia! Amen!

Loud praise to Christ our King; Alleluia! Amen!Let all, with heart and voice, before His throne rejoice;

Praise is His gracious choice, Alleluia! Amen!

Come, lift your hearts on high, Alleluia! Amen!Let praises fill the sky; Alleluia! Amen!

He is our Guide and Friend; to us He’ll condescend; His love shall never end, Alleluia! Amen!

Praise yet our Christ again, Alleluia! Amen!Life shall not end the strain; Alleluia! Amen!

On heaven’s blissful shore, His goodness we’ll adore,Singing forevermore, Alleluia! Amen!

We Confess the Victory of Christ 1 Corinthians 15:51-56Pastor: Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye,at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. For thisperishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. When the perishable puts on theimperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:

People: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?”

Pastor: The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.

All: But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!

2 We believe that God always initiates with sinners, so we begin worship with his invitation and command to us to gather in His name.

I Know That My Redeemer Lives UnknownI know that my Redeemer lives, what comfort this sweet sentence gives,

He lives, he lives, who once was dead, He lives, my ever living Head.

He lives triumphant from the grave, He lives eternally to save,He lives my mansion to prepare, He lives to lead me safely there.

He lives, all glory to His name! He lives, my Jesus, still the same,O the sweet joy this sentence gives, I know that my Redeemer lives.

Rend Your Hearts And Not Your Garments(Joel 2:13)

We Confess our Sins Psalm 25:6,7,11,16-18Remember, O Lord, Your great mercy and love, for they are from of old; Remember not the sins of our youth andour rebellious ways; According to Your love remember us, for You are good, O Lord... For the sake of Your Name,O Lord, forgive our iniquity, though it is great... Turn to us and be gracious to us, for we are lonely and afflicted. The troubles of our hearts have multiplied; free us from our anguish. Look upon our affliction and our distress, andtake away all our sins. ...Silent and Personalized Confession of Sin... Amen!

Words of Grace Isaiah 53:4-6Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. Buthe was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought uspeace, and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way;and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Worship with Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs

Indescribable StoryFrom the highest of heights to the depths of the sea,

Creation’s revealing your majesty.From the colors of fall to the fragrance of spring,Every creature unique in the song that it sings;

All exclaiming,

Indescribable, uncontainable,You placed the stars in the sky and you know them by name.

You are amazing God!All powerful, untamable,

Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim,You are amazing God!

Page 5: DPC Bulletin - July 17, 2011

Who has told every lightning bolt where it should go?Or seen Heavenly storehouses laden with snow?

Who imagined the sun and gives source to its light,Yet conceals it to bring us the coolness of night?

None can fathom,

Indescribable, uncontainable,You placed the stars in the sky and you know them by name.

You are amazing God!Incomparable, unchangeable,

You know the depths of my heart and you love me the same. You are amazing God! You are amazing God!

Lord for Your Glory HamptonLord for your glory we sing Your praises.

We magnify Your holy name. All for Your glory, Lord we bring blessing.

We seek to honor You all of our days.

No tender voice like Thine, can peace afford.I need Thee every hour, stay Thou near by,

You Shall Rejoice In Your Feast(Deuteronomy 16:14)

The Sacrament of the Lord’s SupperCommunion, also called The Lord’s Supper or Eucharist, is the family meal of Christians. We invite all committedfollowers of Jesus Christ to share in this sacrament: those who are baptized members of a congregation that proclaims thegospel, who are at peace with God and their neighbor, and who seek strength to live in a deeper communion with Jesus. If you are not a Christian, or you are not prepared to share in this meal, we encourage you to spend this time in prayer. We hope that this time is helpful to you as you consider your relationship with Jesus Christ and with his people, the Church.

3 4, 5, & 6 year-old children may be dismissed before the sermon to Godly Play in room 173.

In Christ Alone TownendIn Christ Alone my hope is found, He is my strength, my light, my song;

This Cornerstone, this solid ground, firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace, when fears are stilled, when strivings cease!

My Comforter, my All in All, here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone! Who took on flesh, fullness of God in helpless babe! This gift of love and righteousness, scorned by the ones He came to save.

Till on that cross, as Jesus died, the wrath of God was satisfied,My every sin on Him was laid, here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay, light of the world in darkness slain:Then bursting forth in glorious day, up from the grave he rose again!

And as He stands in victory, sin’s curse has lost its grip on me,For I am His and He is mine, bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death, this is the power of Christ in me;From life’s first cry to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny.

No power of hell, no scheme of man, can ever pluck me from His hand;Till He returns or calls me home, here in the power of Christ I’ll stand!

Receive Blessing From The Lord(Psalm 24:5)

Benediction4 2 Peter 1:2,3May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord! His divine power has grantedto us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence.

I Am the Lord Your God UnknownI am the Lord your God, (I... Am)

The Holy One of Israel, your Savior.I am the Lord, (Do not fear.)I am the Lord, (Do not fear.)I am the Lord, (Do not fear.)

I am the Lord.

4 Just as God called us into His presence at the beginning, so now He commands His blessing upon us as we depart. We look up and extend our handsin a posture of thanksgiving as we receive this great gift. Our final response to God’s assurance of His peace and presence upon those who are in Christis a chorus of joyful song.

“A Long Obedience in the Same Direction”A study of Eugene Peterson’s book looking at the Psalms of Ascent (Psalms 120-134). These are the particular songs thatthe Hebrew pilgrims would sing on their way up to worship in Jerusalem, and they have much to teach us about worship, service, joy, work, happiness, humility, community and blessing. Room 158A, (right off the sanctuary).

“The Righteous Shall Live By Faith”A study of R. C. Sproul’s book looking at the book of Romans. The book of Romans has been called “Paul’s fullest, grandest, most comprehensive statement of the gospel,” and it’s just as vital for the church today as on the day it waswritten. Room 167A, (down the hall from the church office).
