Through research I have found that hip hop magazines generally have a picture of the subject on one whole page and next to it have an article about the subject. The picture in this particular article is of of birdman sitting in a dark room with a light showing his left side of him looking directly at the camera. The mode of address used in hip hop magazines is normally described in a way that anyone can read the magazine and understand it however slang and colloquialisms are used frequently throughout the magazine especially when quoting an artist in an interview as they commonly use slang to describe certain things. The magazines are full of fact and information about the subject. The article describes bird man as the boss of all bosses this shows his importance in the magazine. When the magazine is quoting birdman the dialogue changes and this is very noticeable against the reporters writing style which is informative and clear. Examples of some of the colloquialisms and slang used is “ground dog” and “young steers” slang is common in hip hop magazines especially when talking to celebrities in interviews.
