BIOGRAPHY

Simon Procter is part of the new wave of contemporary artists that straddle both the worlds of High art and High Fashion. His time is divided between New York and Paris and is regularly featured in important cultural/style magazines such as V Magazine, Vogue, Harpers Bazaar and The New York Times. He is renowned for his work with photographing Hollywood film stars and international supermodels and his work draws upon this lifestyle, containing a unique synthesis of classical painting and fashion.

His pieces are often highly complex constructions blurring the line between photography and painting. Simon Procter was raised in a small mining village in the industrial North of England, studied Fine Art for many years before he moved to Paris in the late 90s, where he developed a photographic technique for documenting fashion shows and their architectural spaces. The famous COLETTE, immediately exhibited the series (sponsored by both Armani and Prada).

His work captured the attention of Haute Couture designers both Karl Lagerfeld and John Galliano with whom he continues to work closely with to this day. His first major international exhibition Art Basel 2008 was a major success, his piece "Galliano Royal" was the most successful artwork in the history of the gallery. He has since gone on to exhibit with a large number of respected Galleries and museums and his work is included in several prestigious collections.

Clients include The Boston Museum of Fine Art, Nokia, Marriot Hotels, Adidas Y-3, L'Oréal Paris and Nike, Galleries Lafayette, Reebok, Montblanc, Banque National de Paris, private collectors...

BIOGRAPHY

« THE MEN ARE BORN FREE AND EQUAL AND IT IS THE LAST TIME WHEN THEY ARE HIM »

Drawing its themes in poverty, exclusion and social inequalities in occidental society, the artist reproduced exactly, using the technique of printing on canvas, objects and fragments of the urban environment, onplates of foam in the reconditioning of kinds of "objects-fronts" or "objects mattress". Not without mentioning some of the work of American artist Gordon Matta-Clark, his works call for two readings.

The first lies in the fields of aesthetics and fun: the artist unveils the plastic qualities of these elements of reality highlighting the beauty and poetry that can emanate. The second is more in the order of observation and testimony of social and political.

Strolling through the series of suburban houses, the laundry, vending, mattresses and wall squats, the viewer is immersed in the universe and he life of a segment of the population on the sidelines, away from what is our occidental comfort and private rights which underpin our society. He is requested to take the time to pause to observe these elements, we do not collect or older, and rediscover the wonder of nature and meaning. One way for the artist to put some things flat?

BIOGRAPHY

Patricia Erbelding lives and works in Paris, France. Her first solo exhibition was at the Haut-Pavé Gallery in Paris in 1993 and she has participated in hundreds of exhibitions in Europe, Japan, New Zealand, Mexico and United States since 1991. She engages in regular collaborations with writers and poets for artist's book creation.

Her artistic expression, around a core of abstract painting, also extends into other media and creative areas like photography and sculpture. It’s a work in mutation; materializing a research that, while never revealing the secrets, imposes the development of an intimate language orchestrated with paradox and antithesis.

Extract of interview of Tita Reut (author of poesy and contemporary literature, France) and within the Framework « The state of metamorphoses », Monograph, Art In Progress Editions.

BIOGRAPHY

Exploring equations on a grand scale

The artist Olga Kisseleva's approach to her work is much the same as a scientist's. A discrepancy detected during a procedure or within the workings of a structure oblige her to formulate a hypothesis, in order to explain the complication in question, and wherever possible, to propose a solution to the problem.

She then determines the skills necessary to pursue the relative study, and commissions the research. The artist calls upon exact sciences, on genetic biology, geophysics, and also on political and social sciences. She proceeds with her experiments, calculations and analyses, while strictly respecting the methods of the scientific domain in question. Her artistic hypothesis is thus verified and approved by a strictly scientific method.

In each of Olga Kisseleva's projects, at each stage of its development, from the initial draft (when the context is taken into consideration), until the moment when the indications allowing the esthetic propositions to come to light are gathered together, a line is traced upon which the different elements convened are inscribed. This way of addressing places and people allows the artist to take on an unusual position, a kind of involvement consisting of questioning, affronting or testing the elements constituting the reality of a situation in which she can borrow from numerous mediations, supports and modes of representation as diverse as the situations themselves.

Yet it still implies, for the viewer as well as the artist, a certain faithfulness to a watchword - vigilance - returning to a principle of responsibility, and implying the establishment of open relationships between the different elements brought into play by esthetic propositions.

MIRCO MAGLIOCCA PHOTOGRAPHY

BORN IN ITALYLIVES IN FRANCE

BIOGRAPHY

Theatre and photography : two demanding arts where the fleeting moment plays the leading role, where the beauty of a gesture can never be repeated.

Mirco Magliocca succeeds in seizing what is imperceptible and in a few years his work has won over the most prestigious French theatres, becoming the official photographer for both “La Comédie-Française” and the “Opera de Paris”.

His personal style is evident in each photo: a subtle blend of classicism and modernity. The classicism of an Italian painter who masters the art of chiaroscuro and has an inborn sense of perspective and composition.

The modernity of a man of his time who focuses on the graphical lines or on the sensuality of the bodies. A photographer devoted to the performing arts. Just watch Mirco Magliocca work: he is at ease with anyone, from the technicians to the performers, shows respect for everyone, and knows the price of the effort and how to become invisible so that the artists may give themselves completely over to his camera. Birds of a feather flock together!

Mirco Magliocca is always on the lookout for brand new forms of photographic expression, which have been put on display in several exhibitions in France and abroad.

BRUNO FARAT PHOTOGRAPHY BORN IN FRANCELIVES IN FRANCE

BIOGRAPHY

Initiated into photography since high school, he is entrusted a photographer position in 1979 when called by the country to serve in the 50st Transport Regiment in Vienne. In 1979, he attended the Beaux-Arts, a Fine Arts school in Marseilles/Luminy, for two years.

During this period, he develops and improves his artistic sense, his powers of observation, and he is introduced to geometry, drawing and the rules of pictorial composition. He then entered a photography school, the ETPA in Toulouse, where he studied the shootings & laboratory technics from 1982 to 1984. Bruno Farat settles in Paris and becomes a black & white printer for the photography office of the « Réunion des Musées Nationaux » (National Museums Firm) and then for the French Press Agency (AFP). He creates his own shooting studio for advertising and industrial purposes.

With his associate, he realises a slideshow for the CNES (the French Space Agency), publishescatalogs and illustrates computer magazines' covers as well as many companies' internal newspapers in different fields (industry, bank, insurances, institutions...). Still fuelling his passion for black & white without a break, he cultivates the art of look exploring throughout the years the richness of this artistic and poetic expression mode. An exhibition in Sicily (more exactly in Palazzolo) and another in Bievres during the European Photography Fair illustrate this period.

Bruno Farat is a perfectionist Leicaist photographer, always in search of poetry and esthetism. He shares with pleasure his passion for silver photography and more specifically for black and white, with his students and interns, transmitting his know-how and both the shooting and laboratory technics.

BIOGRAPHY

BIOGRAPHY

Born in 1983, Jérémie Lenoir is graduated of the Polytechnique School of the University of Tours and of the Superior Art and Design School of Orléans. Without proper subject, without attempt an objective reproduction of a "true" landscape, Jérémie Lenoir's photographs offer a sensitive travel through what Marc Augé called "non places". Deeply inspired by Dusseldorf Kunstakademie artists, Jurgen Nefzger or Raymond Depardon thematics, his work tries both a representation of reality and its transfiguration.

Exhibitions, “Between Loire and Ocean” In November 4th in 18 decembre 2011

Note of the artist

Au carrefour du Centre, de la région parisienne et de la côte Atlantique, l’Anjou occupe une position stratégique favorisant son développement. Son activité économique diversifiée et dynamique transforme son paysage et induit une mutation constante de ses territoires. Agriculture, industries et commerces se modernisent ; villes, espaces de loisirs et voies de communications se renouvellent ;

BIOGRAPHYMODULES, MODELS & UTOPIES

The artistic reflection I’ve been working on is about the processes of genesis and morphogenesis, the birth of life and forms. My work is therefore a reflection on life, which is kind of a constant work in progress, on which we inspire. I’m particularly interested in the relationship between the microcosm and the macrocosm and the rôle of the human being in this relationship.

Another constant in my work is the notion of module, present in the repetitive structures. The word module comes from the Greek word for tone, and the Latin modulus, modus, that stands for cadence or measure. So the module is originally a conventional unit of measure to address the different proportions of a whole and to prevent any change or variation, the module is actually a standard model. Today the concept of module simply defines an element, a constituent unit of a set. Although it is difficult to know precisely the origin of this concept, which is not easy to conceive, its existence and permanence through the centuries in various forms, and especially its continued use that has been made of this concept, invite us to further study it thoroughly. I consider that we are talking about modules, when we speak of a parasite, a human being, a wall, a bubble, an egg, a brick or a word, which may constitute larger entities, as shown by Powers of Ten, a documentary film produced by the designers couple Charles and Ray Eames in 1977, offering a journey between the infinitely large and infinitely small. In this documentary it is put into perspective the concept of size in the universe, and to measure the place of man in the universe. Today, thanks to tools like Google Earth we have access to a view of the Earth's surface, moving away or approaching it, which has changed our perception and conception of ourselves. I share the ambition of many artists to constantly address the question of utopia in art, a notion that is one of the major creative forces of all time.
