“Greetings viewers and welcome to Door-to-Door, the ONLY show that selects houses at random and puts a dollar value on people’s belongings...I’m your host Phil Guerrero and this week we are in Halifax, Nova Scotia...”

THE SEARCH BEGINS

We see a comical montage of door-knocks, dogs barking and slamming doors, until finally, a welcoming homemaker

opens the door and says something like; “Yes, can I help

you?”The Door-to-Door crew enters the home like a band

of polite reality TV guerrillas and invite themselves in for a tour of the house, homeowner in tow. Being an inherent smarty-pants, our Host verbalizes his observations like a tongue-in-cheek Mr. Curious as the team examines the

closets and nooks & crannies for items of interest. “Hmm,

lovely broom closet Mrs Grant” We find an item of interest and our Host immediately invites the startled homeowner to share the family history and significance of the piece. “Where did you get this Pewter Mug Mrs. Grant?” Mrs Grant informs Phil that all her Pewter came from

Scotland. Phil now consults with our Door-to-Door

appraiser via skype or facetime; “Stan, what would a Pewter Mug like this fetch on the market today?”

“Well Phil, I’ve only come across 10 of these before...we

could go as high as $280.00”

“Mrs. Grant, Stan has appraised your mug. We can’t tell you what it’s worth yet but we’ll give you a choice of 2 envelopes

to chose from...one is full of $$, the other is a mystery

envelope.” (Mrs Grant doesn’t know that is contains a trip to Scotland)

While Mrs Grant decides we quickly wipe to a mini travel log about pewter and Scotland. We come back to Mrs Grant who has decided that she will take the money. Our Host transforms into ‘An Auctioneer’ and launches into a high-energy auction ramble aimed at the shocked pewter

mug owner. “Mrs Grant I am prepared to offer you $195,

$230, $280 dollars or there’s still time to choose the mystery envelope...” as Phil amplify the hype. During this bizarre pressure-cooker, our camera swings back and forth capturing the action and drama of Mrs. Grant’s anxiety. This intimate test of values winds-up with the traditional auctioneer’s crescendo; “going once, going twice...SOLD for $280!”

“Mrs Grant, had you chosen the mystery envelope, you

would be on your way to Scotland but well done anyway...you now have $280 and we have your Pewter Mug.”

The scene typically ends with Phil counting out the

individual bills into the exhausted sellers hand. “$100,

$200...”We thank Mrs Grant for her hospitality and move on to

the the next house...

Mrs Grant pointing to her Pewter Collection Going once, twice...SOLD!

We continue to offer cash and trips for people’s ‘ s tuf f ’ throughout the neighborhood.

Door-to-Door challenges

The ‘Put your finger on it’ challenge. This is when Phil offers mad cash for ordinary household items such as drum sticks, a World’s Greatest Dad coffee mug or even a rubber chicken.

The ‘It’s a Small World’ challenge is when Phil gives away cash or trips for the correct answer to a

Geography or travel question “You

hear a woman answer the phone by saying moshi, moshi. What country are you in” Japan is the correct answer and we wipe to a mini travel log of Japan and perhaps footage of a Japanese woman saying Moshi, Moshi.

The ‘Guess it to Win it’ challenge is when Phil gives the eager homeowner a choice between 3 multiple choice answers to a travel

q u e s t i o n . “ W h i c h p l a c e i s n o t

Canadian... (a) Nunavut, (b) Kalamazoo,

or (c) Yukon?”

The ‘Neighborhood Watch’ is a fun one. We ask you to find something. If you can’t find it within the time limit, you are allowed to run over to your neighbors house and ask them if they have the item. If they find it, you both share the reward.

The ‘Music Lover’s’ challenge. We ask the homeowner to find an Elvis record perhaps, for a chance to win cash or even a trip to Graceland.

T h e ‘ S t a m p C o l l e c t i o n ’ challenge. You have 1 minute to find your passport and show us 5 stamps from 5 different countries for a chance to travel to one of those countries.

We LOVE to give stuff away. We’ll sometimes give prizes away just for answering a trivia question about your

own town correctly. “Mr and Mrs Hammersmith, I’ll give you a Caribbean

Cruise for two if you can tell me the name

of the cruise line that docks every summer in the Halifax Harbour”

And what do we do with all the ‘goods’ that we purchase you ask?

Here are some ideas:

The On-line Auction:

The pewter mug along with all the other acquired items are loaded onto our Door-to-Door truck and brought back to the Door-to-Door studio for an on-line auction. A portion of the proceeds go to charity.

The Street Sale:

We block off a street and sell it all at the end of the day right in the same neighborhood that we originally purchased it in. Mrs. Grant’s pewter mug may end up 2 doors down on Sally Turner’s mantle.

The Town Hall Auction:

We make arrangements with the city of Halifax and hold a giant auction to sell it all off to the highest bidders. With some of the proceeds going to a local charity.

Host opening: :30

“Hello everyone and welcome to another episode of Door-to-Door, the only show that puts a dollar value on stuff you already own AND offers prizes, trips and cash for simply knowing about the town you live in. Today we’re in beautiful and historic Halifax, Nova Scotia. Rich in history this city is sure to have some hidden treasures.”

Wipe to “featurette” on Halifax. :20

(Always funny but never insulting feature about the town we’re in. Edited to music with somewhat of a snooty and comical ‘travel log’ V.O)

V.O “Halifax! The ‘bearded men‘ capital of Canada is known for it’s one way streets and......and if you’re looking for seafood, this is the town for you.......Coming up after the break, we go Door-to-Door from somewhere in Halifax”

Montage and Segment 1 7:00

Hilarious montage of door-knocks, dogs barking and slamming doors, until finally, a welcoming homemaker opens the door and says something like;

“Yes, can I help you?”

The Door-to-Door crew enters the home like a band of polite reality TV guerrillas and invite themselves in for a tour of the

house, homeowner in tow. We ask Mrs Grant to tell us about herself and immediately begin the “game”.

Host: “Mrs Grant, let’s find out how well you know your town with a little thing I like to call...’Let’s find out how well you know your town.’ For a Dinner for 2 at Fiasco, prepared by Celebrity chef Martin Keyzlar you have 30 seconds to give me the correct answer to the following question:

Are citizens of Halifax called?A - HalifaxiansB - HaligoniansC - Halifaxologists

You said B - Haligonians and you are correct Mrs. Grant. Well done.”

The fun continues....

“Now, I’m prepared to give you $100 cash if you answer this question in 10 seconds.

The first recorded __(blank)___ sighting in Canada happened 20 minutes from here on October 12, 1786.”

We wipe to a split screen of Mrs. Grant on one side and a countdown clock on the other. The buzzer goes off and Mrs. Grant did not answer in time.

Our Host gives her one more chance...

“The answer was UFO. But wait Mrs Grant, I’ll give you 50 bucks if you can find a UFO or something with a UFO on it...GO!”

We follow Mrs. Grant as she franticly runs through her house looking for a kid’s toy or a book on UFOs. She finds a book. We give her the $50 in exchange for the book and move onto the next house.

The Door-to-door cameras follow as we travel next door to Mr Simmons’ House...

Host: “Alright, Mr Simmons was kind enough to invite us into his home and after the break we’ll try to make him happy he opened the door for us.

Commercial Break 2 2:00

Host back from break...recap 1:00

Segment 2 8:00

We put Mr. Simmons’ knowledge of his town to the test with a series of challenges.

He gets them all wrong.

Host: “Ok Mr. Simmons this is your last chance to feel good about letting us in. The great thing is that there is no right or wrong answer to this next challenge. We noticed when we first entered your home that you have a framed picture of The Citadel Fort. I would like to buy that from you for $100 dollars. Deal or no deal.”

While Mr. Simmons decides we go to a featurette about the 19th century Citadel fort located right in the heart of Halifax.

Mr. Simmons accepts our offer and we travel a few doors down to the McMurray residence.

Host: “Mr. & Mrs McMurray, I have here in my hand 3 envelopes. Each one contains a different challenge....”

The McMurrays pick envelope #2.

Host: “ C o m p l e t e t h i s ch a l l e n g e successfully and you will both attend the East Coast Music awards with these 2 VIP backstage passes. Many musical acts have come from Halifax including April Wine and Sloan. You have 1 minute to find an album, cassette, CD or even 8 track from a Halifax band or performer. Go!”.

The McMurrays split up. Mr McMurray dashes down to the basement while Mrs. McMurray sprints to the living room. Our cameras follow the mayhem. With 5 seconds left to go Mr. McMurray finds an old dusty April Wine album and screams with victory.

Host: “Nicely done Mr. Murray. Here’s an additional 100 dollars for the dusty album. Thanks for the hospitality and enjoy The East Coast Music awards. We still have 2 envelopes to get rid of so we need to keep moving.”

Shots of our Host going Door-to-Door in hopes of being invited in.

Finally, Mr Crockard allows us to come in for a visit.

Host: “Let’s not waste any time. Mr Crockard please choose an envelope.”

He picks envelope #1.

Host: “This is a fun challenge Mr. Crockard. I am going to ask you to find an item. If you can’t find it you’re allowed to go ask a neighbour, but you’ll have to share the prize with that nieghbour. Are you ready?...Nova Scotia is Latin for New Scotland...for 300 dollars, you have 2 minutes to bring me back something Scottish. GO!”

Mr Crockard is stunned. He doesn’t seem to know which way to go. After having searched the house, he runs next door and with 20 seconds left on the clock, his neighbour Mrs Lootes produces a small Porcelain Scottish

Highland Dancer figurine. They both get $150 and we get the figurine.

Host: “Well played Mr. Crockard. Now after break I’m going to find a worthy participant for this last envelope.”

He peaks inside the envelop.

“Ohh, this one’s a good one.”

Host recap :24

Segment 3 6:00

We are now in the Living room of a very excited Mrs Mallette.

Host “Thanks for welcoming us in Mrs. Mallette. We have gone Door-to-Door meeting your neighbours. Some were more lucky than others but now it’s YOUR turn. I have one envelope left and I know you’re going to definitely want what’s inside this one.”

Host turns to camera...

“But before we play here’s what’s inside Mrs. Mallette’s envelope.”

To build more suspense our Host throws to a feature that only the viewers at home can enjoy.

Feature: :30

V.O Mrs. Mallette’s envelope contains an all inclusive, Holland America North American Cruise with ports of call that include Boston, Massachusetts; Portland, Maine; Bar Harbor, Maine; Saint John, New Brunswick and Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Host: “Okay Mrs. Mallette, ARE YOU READY? In this envelope is a question about Halifax. If you answer the question correctly(pause) ...we will fly you and a guest to Boston, where you will board a ship and embark on a fabulous 7 night, North American Cruise.” (Pause to let the excitement set in)

“The question is this: What is the name of the Cruise-line that docks right here at pier 22 of the Port of Halifax every April?”

Mrs. Mallette hopefully knows the answer. If she doesn’t, we give her clues until she gets it right. (because this is most likely a sponsored prize)

Host: “Way to go Mrs. Mallette. Enjoy your Cruise. Well that’s the end of our show and remember Canada, if you would like to appear on Door-to-Door, simply log onto www.doortodoor.com and tell us why we should visit your neighbourhood. You never know...we may come knockin’ at your door. Thanks for watching.”

Total Running time 24:10

Correct Answer = All inclusive Holland America North American Cruise Scottish dancer = $300
