MESSAGE

Welcome back to Margaret Stenersen Home of the Stars! We have just completed 9 full days of

school! This year our school is full and many of our new catchment families have had to go to Swift

Elementary. Margaret Stenersen staff have many wonderful activities planned for you and your

children. Strong Start has started today, we enjoyed blueberries and milk from our fruit and veggie

program last week, and cross-country training has begun. We are up and running! This year the staff

is implementing the newly redesigned curriculum and some teachers will use only electronic

portfolios for interim reporting. Our PAC has met and planned Scholastic Book Fair and Market

Night. 2016 - 2017 promises to be busy and a very productive year. Thank you to everyone for their

ongoing support. Let’s do this!

Meet the Teacher - September 29th Please drop by the school between 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. to meet your child(ren’s) teacher and visit their classroom. Your children are hosts for this evening. Gentle reminder that this is not a time for teacher interviews as these will take place in November once classroom teachers know your children better. Please remember to bring your money as the Bookfair will be open until 7:00 p.m.

The Scholastic book fair will be in the library from Tuesday, September 27th through Friday, September 30th.

For safety and efficiency reasons, Abbotsford School District would like to reduce the amount of cash & cheques coming into our school. Please join the thousands of parents who have already registered and are enjoying the convenience of paying ONLINE! It takes less than 5 minutes to register. Please follow these step-by-step instructions, so you will begin to receive email notifications regarding upcoming events involving your child(ren).

NOTE: If you require assistance, select the GET HELP option in the top right hand corner of the

screen.

Step 1: Register

a) If you have not registered, please go to the School Cash Online home page https://abbotsford.schoolcashonline.com and select the “Get Started Today” option.

b) Complete each of the three Registration Steps

*For Security Reasons your password, requires 8 characters, one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter and a number.

Step 2: Confirmation Email

A registration confirmation email will be forwarded to you. Click on the link provided

inside the email to confirm your email and School Cash Online account. The confirmation link will open the School Cash Online site prompting you to sign into your account. Use your email address and password just created with your account.

Step 3: Find

Student Note: Student Number is Not Required This step will connect your children to your account. a) Enter the School Board Name b) Enter the School Name c) Enter Your Child’s Name & Birth Date d) Select Continue e) On the next page confirm that you are related to

the child, check in the Agree box and select Continue

f) Your child has been added to your account

Step 4: View Items or Add Another Student

If you have more children, select “Add Another Student” option and repeat the steps above. 5 children can be added to one parent account. If you do not wish to add additional children, select “View Items For Students” option. A listing of available items for purchase will be displayed.

The Breakfast Program will starts October 6th. All students and their parents/ guardians are invited to come. Breakfast runs 7:45 to 8:15. This Breakfast Program is brought to you by the lovely folks at Living Hope Christian Reform Church.

NUT AWARE SCHOOL

Due to a large number of students who are severely allergic to nuts, we ask you to not bring any food items that contain nuts for lunch or snacks.

The notification pertains to all classrooms and activity areas. If your child has an epi-pen, please make sure the office is aware of this, and the medical reason the

epi–pen is required. There are forms to be completed at the office.

1 The left lane is drive through only- no stopping. 2 The right lane is for drop off only- no parking; no drivers out of the vehicle.

Parking is very limited on site. There is a large parking lot 1 block east of the school. Walking is strongly encouraged.

3 Please observe handicapped parking spaces. 4 Please do not double park or block pathways.

Thank you for following these rules. Our staff is working very hard to keep everyone safe and to ensure that you are able to pick up and drop your children in a timely manner. Because of your support, pick up and drop off are running very smoothly, an impressive improvement from day one. We appreciate your ongoing support!
