MTV stands for Music Television, it is a channel which broadcasts many programmes as well as music. The Channel is targeted at young

teens, this is obvious through there choice of programmes in which they broadcast to the

public.

• 16 and pregnant is a documentary produced by Dr Drew, is it aired on MTV and targeted at teens.

• The documentary is based around a group of girls who are pregnant at the age of 16, they are followed round by a group of cameras and exposed of their lifestyles and issues surrounding before, during and the first few weeks of their life after pregnancy.

• So far there has been 1 complete series with 6 episodes all dedicated to one girl each. They are currently premiering Series 2 on MTV.

• Each episode follows around the 16 year old girl as well as the boyfriend/fiancé/husband, family and friends and exposes the issues they have to tackle throughout the stages of pregnancy.

• The form in which the producer decided to use in order to film these documentaries was so that they were able to expose the flaws of having children at such a young age as well as showing the preparation and stability needed in order to raise a baby.

• The documentary is trying to make aware to young teens that unprotected sex has a consequence that can change your life dramatically. The documentary gives the viewers a chance to view the lifestyles of these girls and how they have coped with this change.

• Each episode was narrated by the girls themselves and gives their views and opinions on how they are dealing with their situation. It is an observational documentary that tells a story about teen pregnancy.

• Teen mum is the follow on after 16 and pregnant. It follows round 4 of the girls who were involved in the first series of 16 and pregnant and there life after pregnancy. It is just like 16 and pregnant but each episode involves all 4 of the girls.

• The girls narrate their lives to the cameras and the audiences showing how they are coping with having a new born around. It shows the audiences the drastic changes that having a baby can bring to someone's life at 16 and how they cope with school, their family, their friends, their relationships and the baby.

Each one of these girls has raised their babies different in different lifestyles. Farrah is a single mum raising her baby with the help of her family as the father is not around.

Catelynn and Tyler decided that adoption was the best choice for their baby, but decided on an open adoption plan. Although the documentary was not allowed to follow the baby and her new adoptive parents they were able to follow Catelynn and Tyler and how they are coping with the adoption.

Amber is raising her baby with her boyfriend Gary, but through the documentary you can see the struggles they have as a couple.

Maci is raising her baby also with her boyfriend Ryan but as well with the help of both families
