As usual, we have included for you various resources, events happening on campus, and workshops to help you develop academically and professionally. As always, please visit out website for more information re- garding all the services we provide! -GNI Staff Important Dates Graduate Net Initiative Funding Opportunities Division of Research and Graduate Studies Funding Opportunities Graduate Student Research and Creative Activities Support Award (2/12 - 3/9): A partnership between ASI and the Division of Research and Graduate Studies to fund competitive research support, awards in amounts up to $1,000 are given to a graduate/doctoral student's dissertation, thesis, or re- search project. Travel Grants (ongoing): All materials must be submitted at least 30 days prior to the conference/ meeting. These grants are available throughout the year to students who have been invited to present a paper or poster at a major professional association conference or society meeting. The Graduate Writing Studio (GWS), developed by Chuck Radke for the Division of Research and Gradu- ate Studies in fall 2010, is a quiet retreat where students can study and sign up for free one-on-one ap- pointments with writing consultants. The consultants are, themselves, graduate students who have been trained to help their colleagues through every step of the writing process. This step-by-step process, which teaches students through on-going dialogue, has proven quite successful in leading students toward a place where they can feel confident in their own writing. The studio is coordinated by Debra Neufeld and Ronald Dzerigian, two former graduate students from Fresno State. Debra received her M.A. degree in Education: Curriculum and Instruction in 2014 and has been working in the GWS since fall 2012. Ronald received his M.F.A. degree in Creative Writing in 2016 and has been consulting with students in the GWS since fall 2013. Call 278-2450 or email [email protected] to request an appointment.
