The Graduate Writing Studio (GWS), developed by Chuck Radke for the Division of Research and Gradu-
ate Studies in fall 2010, is a quiet retreat where students can study and sign up for free one-on-one ap-
pointments with writing consultants. The consultants are, themselves, graduate students who have been
trained to help their colleagues through every step of the writing process. This step-by-step process, which
teaches students through on-going dialogue, has proven quite successful in leading students toward a place
where they can feel confident in their own writing. The studio is coordinated by Debra Neufeld and
Ronald Dzerigian, two former graduate students from Fresno State. Debra received her M.A. degree in
Education: Curriculum and Instruction in 2014 and has been working in the GWS since fall 2012. Ronald
received his M.F.A. degree in Creative Writing in 2016 and has been consulting with students in the GWS
since fall 2013.
