Diocese of Scranton Wedding Anniversary Mass His Excellency, the Most Reverend Joseph C. Bambera, D.D., J.C.L., Bishop of Scranton, and the Office for Parish Life
wish to invite couples celebrating their 25th or 50th wedding anniversary in 2015 to a diocesan Wedding Anniversary
Mass on Sunday, June 7. (NB: This is a change from the original date of June 21.) The event includes a 2:30 PM Mass
at St. Peter’s Cathedral followed by a reception. Requests for an invitation, with a mailing address, should be made
through the parish office before March 16.
Facilitated by Mike Abdalla
All the faithful of the Diocese of Scranton are reminded of Diocesan Statute No.41 which addresses the penitential as-
pect of Lent:
“The season of Lent is penitential in nature and during Lent penance should not only be internal and individual, but
also external and social (Sacrosanctum Concilium, No.5, 109). Pastors are obligated to avoid scheduling activities in
the parishes which in any way could possibly detract from the external and social penance required by Lent.”
Ash Wednesday, February 18, marks the beginning of Lent. The following fast and abstinence regulations are ob-
served:
-Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of fast and abstinence.
-Fridays during Lent are days of abstinence.
-All Catholics who have reached their 14th birthday are to abstain from eating meat on Ash Wednesday, Good
Friday and on all Fridays during Lent.
-All Catholics over 18 years of age to the beginning of their 60th year are bound to the obligation of fasting.
Those bound by this rule may take only one full meal and two smaller meals unless dispensed or excused.

From the Desk of Father Pauselli Congratulations to Bryce Robert Coyle who will be baptized this weekend at Divine Mer-
cy. Bryce Robert is the son of Robert and Kimberly Hallinan Coyle. He was born on De-
cember 20, 2014. May the Lord bless Bryce Robert and his family on this most special
occasion!
On behalf of our parish, I am so grateful to all who gave of their time and talent to the suc-
cess of our parish breakfast last Sunday. It was a wonderful event and the food was deli-
cious. Thanks again to everyone, especially Bill Drazdowski for his organizational efforts!
Lent is a special time for us as Catholics and the following is a spiritual reflection for the
first Sunday of Lent. The Little Mandate is composed of words that Catherine Doherty, a
Roman Catholic Social worker and founder of the Madonna House Apostolate, believed
she received from Jesus Christ over the course of her apostolic life. This “distillation of the
Gospel” is at the heart of Madonna House spirituality. Arise—go! Sell all you possess.
Give it directly, personally to the poor. Take up My cross (their cross) and follow Me, go-
ing to the poor, being poor, being one with them, one with Me. Little—be always little! Be
simple, poor, childlike. Preach the Gospel with your life—without compromise! Listen to
the Spirit. He will lead you. Do little things exceedingly well for love of Me. Love.. love..
love, never counting the cost. Go into the marketplace and stay with Me. Pray, fast. Pray
always, fast. Be hidden. Be a light to your neighbor’s feet. Go without fear into the depth
of men’s hearts. I shall be with you. Pray always. I will be your rest. Have a great week!
Ministry Schedule The Ministry Schedule for January through March will be released on March 25th. Con-
tact Nick at the Parish Office by March 23rd if you have any scheduling conflicts,
would like to change your Mass time preference or be taken off the schedule. Ministers are still needed for Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter.
Contact the Parish Office if you would like to volunteer.
We are always happy to see new volunteers coming forward to share their gifts with our
parish community. If you are interested or know of someone who may be interested in par-
ticipating in one of our many ministries, contact Nick at the Parish Office for more infor-
mation on how to get involved!

Lenten Lunches are back !
Once again we will hold Lenten Lunches every Friday during Lent following the 12:10
PM Mass and Stations of the Cross. This has become a great tradition for our Parish. We
hope even more people can join us this year. The first of these lunches will be held on
February 20th.
Parish Breakfast 2015:
Another President’s Day weekend has passed, as well as another wonderful Annual Par-
ish Breakfast. I humbly thank all of our Parishioners and members of the Women’s
Guild for volunteering their time and efforts on such a cold wintery morning. We were
able to serve approximately 309 meals, including 22 that were delivered to our home
bound, in just over 3 hours. This is quite a remarkable feat and could not have been done
without the coordinating efforts by Ann Marie Cawley, Lois Fuller and Dorothy Bousel-
li.
Girl Scout Troop 50010 will be selling girl scout cookies after all masses during the
weekend of February 21-22. Cookies are $4 per box. We hope you will support them!
Benefit Charlene Thompson is a Taylor resident who is battling breast cancer for the second
time. Family and friends are holding a spaghetti dinner on February 22, 2015 to help her
with the medical costs that she has incurred. The dinner will be held from 2:00PM—
6:00PM at the Taylor Hose Co. on Union St. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for chil-
dren. There will be basket raffles at the event including a raffle for a quilt and basket of
cheer. If anyone can make a donation or would like tickets, please contact Kori Le-
oszewski (570-903-6402) or Maryann Kaminski (570-562-2900). We are looking for
anyone who can donate a basket, gift cards, pasta, bottle of wine or liquor.
Name Tags All Ushers, Sacristans, and Eucharistic Ministers are asked to stop in the sacristy before
you scheduled Mass to pick up a new name tag.
