Since the early 2000s, the onset of the secular slowdown in global growth has been driven by the twin long run shocks, i.e. ageing demographics and the flattening of the returns on investment in technological capital. Over the next 20 years, addressing these challenges will require dramatic re-shaping of private and public systems of the supply of goods and services, investment, enterprise formation, ownership and management.

Despite the recent achievement of COP21 to get 190 nations to agree to limit global warming to 2 degrees, the role of thriving ecosystems in successful businesses, NGO’s and organizations is poorly understood and applied in making the critical decisions we use to allocate our precious resources. The new discipline of ThriveAbility is aimed at changing that. It does this by re-designing our socio-technical and managerial systems.

It’s Not Just the Profit You Make but How You Make It: Building Trust and Integrity in the Boardroom and Beyond - Across the CompanyOonagh Harpur , Senior Advisor to Boards on Corporate Strategy, Reputation and Governance.

Boards lead business but many are seen just as ‘governance’.

Oonagh will outline how the best boards are developing their leadership potentail in today’s VUCA world. She will be drawing on research for the Lord Mayor of London’s initiative to restore trust and integrity in financial services. Along the way, she shares learnings from conversations with over 60 corporate directors across Europe, including 25 chairmen.

Oonagh will then lead a discussion exploring the challenges and opportunities for purpose-driven businesses. She is currently facilitating two parallel shared learning groups for Blueprint for Better Business putting purpose into business and willshare on an anonymous basis what the groupshave learned.

Leadership in an Age of ConvergenceDr. Jens Maier, Lecturer at Universität St Gallen and Founder of CE Convergence Engineers.

Convergence between markets and technologiesis happening around us. The perfect storm of ubiquitous technologies, such as smartphones, cloud computing, big data, social media and the Internet of Everything, often characterized as ‘digitization’ is, by itself, challenging enough. But, when coupled with a mega-trend such as aging populations, the implications are felt across most industries.

Leaders have to steer their organizations through this unchartered territory; defensively, protecting the business against new intruders and proactively exploring new opportunities provided through converging technologies and markets.

This presentation will address the challenges on how leaders can balance the different demands of both defensively protecting the existing business while pro-actively shaping the opportunities presented through convergence.

Marc and the NAIP musicians will furthermore offer various music experiences during unexpected moments as an ongoing artistic creative theme during the conference. There will be plenty of room for the participants to join and sit in to jam with the musicians.

Score & Core is an invitation for a creative connecting conversation - an active jam session - that explores the meaningful intangible values of music as a metaphor and a transformative learning experience that can facilitate the shared construction of new narratives about our living experience, our creations and our organizations.
