LEAF DISEASE DAIGNOSIS USING IMAGE PROCESSING
In now a days, Image processing techniques are developing very fastly. This resulting in
use of Image processing technique in various fields. Due to the abilities of image processing, it
can be possible to use image processing for taking decisions according the situation. To
accomplish this task all we need is just the image of current situation. Image processing is very
useful technology for any kind of field. In this case we are using this technology for Botany
field. Here, we are going develop a system which takes image of leaf as its input and will give
the disease name as it output.
Existing System:
In agricultural field farmers generally determines the disease on crops by observing the
leafs of crops. But this requires the background knowledge about the diseases and its effects on
leaf of crops. If a farmer do not have sufficient knowledge about the features of disease then it
may result in wrong prediction about disease which leads to wrong choice of chemicals and
pesticides. This can make a big loss for a farmer.
Disadvantages of Existing System:
The disadvantages of Existing System are listed below:
Requires the knowledge about diseases and their effects on leafs. Must depend on the opinion of agricultural expert. No means to verify the prediction.

Proposed System:
We are going to develop a system which will accept a leaf image, and give the disease
name as its output. Depending on the images current situation E.g. by observing the color. So,
this will illuminates the need of farmer to be knowledgeable. The farmer will need not to depend
on the opinion of agricultural expert. Our system will process the image of leaf and compare it
with the image of existing patterns. Our database images will contain various images for
particular diseases.
Advantages of Proposed System:
Does not require that the user must be knowledgeable. User doesnt needs to be depend on the experts opinion. Can verify the results from existing images.
Software Used:
Language : C#.NET, MATLAB. Database : MS-SQL.
HARDWARE USED:
Main Processor : Pentium IV Ram : 512 MB Hard Disk : 60GB HDD Web Camera
