PIONEERSNanoholdings (nH2) works closely with leading scientists around the world in order to predict, invent and commercialize advanced material technologies for sustainable energy and water.
Over the last decade, they have been building a portfolio of scientifically proven technologies that are at various stages of commercialization and are set to create new paradigms in the industry.
For example, nVerpix enables the manufacturing of energy efficient OLET displays on existing LCD lines reducing the capital expenditure required to produce them. Another portfolio company of nH2 – nHydrogen - develops catalysts that are set to make a completely sustainable hydrogen economy a reality.

Orbital Systems | USA
Inspired by a NASA collaboration and the principles astronauts live by in space, Orbital Systems’ technology makes the world's most efficient water recycling shower, saving up to over 90% water and 80% energy by recirculating, purifying and sanitizing the water.
Nearly 3,000,000 litres of water have been saved up to date.
ECONATION | BELGIUM
EcoNation’s LightCatcher is an autonomous and intelligent skylight with a revolving mirror which catches, enhances, filters and optimises a maximum of daylight and reflects it inside in a diffuse manner.
The LightCatcher brings intense and pleasant daylight inside and can save up to 3,300 hours of luminous power every year. With 1% to 3% of the roof surface, the LightCatcher can light up 100% of the workspace.
Converting Ocean Waves Into Electricity and Freshwater
CalWave is developing WaveCarpet - harnessing the power of ocean waves to produce electricity and freshwater. The design was inspired by the ability of a muddy seafloor to effectively absorb overpassing stormy seas while causing no visual pollution or posing any collision danger.
In recent wave tank tests, it absorbed more than 90 percent of incoming wave energy. With those kinds of results, it is estimated that a 100-square-meter patch on the California coast would equal the power production of a 6,400-square-meter solar panel array.

Karan Jerath | USA
Inspired by BP's Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill, Karan Jerath invented a ground-breaking, subsea wellhead capping device that contains oil spills at the source. This patent-pending device can collect oil, gas and water gushing from a broken well on the sea floor, providing an effective, temporary solution in the case of an unforeseen subsea oil spill.
For his invention, Karan won the Young Scientist Award at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair’s 2015 competition, and was selected as the youngest honoree on 2016 Forbes 30 Under 30 Energy list.
“Southeast Asia Energy Outlook 2015” - a report created by The International Energy Agency and the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) - examines the current status and future prospects for energy markets in the region and their implications for energy security, the environment and economic development.
They estimate the electricity demand of Southeast Asia to triple by 2040, causing coal’s share of the energy mix to increase (one of the few regions in the world showing this worrying trend). By 2040 coal just surpasses oil in the region to become the most consumed fuel.

SPECIAL FEATURE: BEFORE THE FLOOD
DOCUMENTARY: BEFORE THE FLOOD
All that I have seen and learned on my journey has absolutely terrified me. More countries have come together to sign this agreement today than for any other cause in the history of humankind and that is reason for hope… that will not be enough, a massive change is required right now.
“”Before the Flood is a new documentary that presents a riveting account of the dramatic changes now occurring around the world due to climate change, as well as the actions we as individuals and as a society can take to prevent catastrophic disruption of life on our planet.
