Framework Contracts for targeted Technical Assistance
Exemple of Ukraine: On-going FwC "Support to Ukraine to implement
the Danube and Ramsar Conventions" (196,700 EUR)
Objective: to provide support to Ukraine in its efforts to comply with its obligations under the
Danube Convention and the Ramsar Convention.
Following areas supported:
- Capacity building of Ukrainian experts in ICPDR’s expert and task groups
- Preparation of Integrated Tisza River Basin Management Plan
- Development of national Program of Measures for Danube river sub-basins
- Preparation to Ukrainian presidency in ICPDR 2011
-Reinforcement of public participating in Danube basin management planning.

Cross Border Cooperation
The following two CBC programmes fall geographically under the Danube Strategy:
− Hungary - Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine (total allocation: EUR68.638 million)

Neighbourhood Investment Facility− Mobilise grant resources (EU Budget + MS) to leverage loans from European
Financial Institutions for infrastructure projects.
− Finance larger operations to bring greater visibility for the European dimension
of external cooperation.
− Sectors: transport, energy, environment, water and sanitation, social sectors,
support to private sector
So far: 35 projects supported for total NIF contribution of €260 M (for >€4.7
billion of loans and >€9 billion of total cost of investments); From which NIF
contributed with €33 M to projects in MD and €22 M in UA. How to apply: The European Lead Financial Institution submits proposals to
NIF Board
