If you have a mixed workflow and receive files in more than one format you don’t need to learn different tools for color management, trapping, transparency or screening when using an RTI Harlequin RIP. With support for over 300 output devices, the RTI Harlequin RIP is one of the most versatile RIPs on the market. The software gives users the ability to print across the network to the RIP through shared printers which means faster output times and less hassle trying to manage jobs in different applications.

64-bit Binary and Unparalleled Performance. Using a 64-bit RIP aids performance in two ways: (1) The compiled code can perform some steps in fewer cycles because of larger word sizes thereby increasing the RIP speed by around 10%. (2) Larger address space allows the 64-bit RIP to take advantage of more RAM.

Windows 8.1 Support. Harlequin RIP v.10 offers added support for printing from and running the RIP software on Windows 8.1.

Support for Printing from Macintosh and Windows. Users can quickly and easily print directly to the RIP from the latest Macintosh and Windows based operating systems.

PostScript® Level 3. Support for PostScript® Level 3 means compatibility with the latest design and printing applications.

Built-in Preflight Profiles. Enfocus PitStop 4.0 lib/v7 preflight profiles are included with the Harlequin RIP.

PDF v.1.7 Compatible. Support for PDF v.1.7, PDF/X-4, PDF/X-1a, JPEG2000, optional content, cross-reference streams, compressed object streams and 16-bit.

Separations and Screening. The Harlequin RIP allows you to control and manage resolutions, line screens (frequency), screen angles and dot shapes. Print more than 4,000 shades of gray for maximum quality at almost any resolution.

Enhanced Variable Data Support. The built-in external “PDF Retained Raster” feature recognizes shared backgrounds on pages throughout the PDF file and only renders each one once.

New Dot Shapes. Every RTI Harlequin RIP includes our standard AM screen sets; with the release of v.10.1r1 we are proud to introduce and include over 20 new dot shapes.

Migrate to Version 10. The latest migration utility makes upgrading your Harlequin RIP from an older version easy. The migration utility is a self contained application that transfers the settings from your old Harlequin RIP to a newly installed version of the RIP.

Output Preview. Preview jobs in full composite color or preview each color individually to quickly find and correct mistakes before wasting consumables.

Improved Multi-Threading. Transparency compositing is now multi-threaded, accelerating the most complex RIP phase.

Optimization for PDF files with live Transparency. The RIP has included native rendering of PDF files that use live transparency since 2002, but doing so takes significantly more work than processing fully opaque pages. As a result, rendering live transparency takes more time. Version 10 accelerates the speed of processing transparent pages significantly.

Color Accuracy Enhancements. Version 10 receives updated SWOP, Pantone Plus and FOGRA profiles which are now built right into the RIP. The following profiles have been added to v.10: Fogra 39L, Fogra 43L, IFRA 26L, IFRA 30L, SNAP (CGATS TR002), SWOP (CGATS TR003), SWOP (CGATS TR005), GRACol (CGATS TR006).

Enhanced Output Controller. Quickly view and sort jobs with an even wider output controller window.

Pantone Plus Extensions. Pantone has added some new colors to the Pantone Plus library. The Harlequin RIP’s look-up tables have been extended to include these new colors for extremely accurate rendering of spot colors on CMYK, HiFi or PhotoInk devices.

Minimum Dot. An all new calibration feature gives users the ability to specify a minimum dot size. This feature achieves smooth gradations in highlight areas through the use of an applied curve that the user can quickly and easily control.

RIP OPTIONSthat grow with your business

TrapPro in-RIP Trapping. TrapPro is integrated directly into the RIP for enhanced workflow efficiency and maximum job throughput. TrapPro eliminates the need to manually trap jobs within the design application.

Harlequin ColorPro & Digital Proofing. Add an inkjet plugin to your RIP and cut down on wasted materials through proofing. Harlequin ColorPro provides excellent color process control, giving accurate, consistent and predictable color reproduction for a wide range of workflows. ColorPro offers support for industry standard ICC profiles (including device link profiles) avoiding dependence on the generic, system level color management of the computer’s operating system.

Hybrid Screening (HXM). HXM combines the best of stochastic and traditional screening. HXM generates a seamless transition between stochastic highlight dots and conventional screening methods. Our latest set of hybrid screens improve print quality significantly for flexographic customers. The flexographic screens address the issues of how to achieve high-quality in the highlight areas of images, such as tones close to white or skin tones, and how to print these areas with smooth gradations. With the release of v.10 we have expanded the number of HXM screens available with the Harlequin RIP and included a mechanism to auto select the calibration that goes with a particular screen.

Harlequin Dispersed Screening (HDS). HDS is Harlequin’s second generation frequency modulated (FM Screening / Stochastic) screening system. HDS creates reproductions with increased sharpness over conventional screening methods and offers complete freedom from both object and cross-screen moiré.

Harlequin Chain Screening (HCS). HCS is particularly suited to printing charts, weather maps and other computer-generated graphics. HCS uses a long elliptical dot, instead of conventional symmetrical dot shapes.

Harlequin Micro Screening (HMS). HMS was developed to meet the unique requirements of specialty printers. HMS takes advantage of the benefits of higher screen rulings by enhancing highlight printability.

Imposition. We sell a variety of imposition programs that seamlessly work alongside the Harlequin RIP.

CIP3. The CIP3 plugin is used to produce a Print Production File (PPF file). This plugin gives users the ability to automatically include press specific ink key setting data in a RIPped file. This data is then provided to the press operator as a PPF file.

Harlequin Parallel Pages™ (HPP) and Harlequin VariData™ (HVD) Options. The Harlequin Parallel Pages™ (HPP) layered option allows the RIP to interpret one page while the previous page is still being composited and rendered. This maintains multi-threading benefits and allows optimal use of processor cores. Additional layered options, such as Harlequin VariData™ (HVD) are available for situations where maximum performance is required.

FirstPROOF Remote Control. FirstPROOF is a powerful prepress workflow that allows users to control, track and view jobs remotely prior to output. The software includes a wide variety of advanced viewing options as well as an assortment of color management and measurement tools. Two of the most popular features within FirstPROOF Professional are plate merge and scum dot removal.

Lightning TIFF. Lightning TIFF is a high performance TIFF output plugin. The plugin is designed to work with any full resolution Harlequin RIP v.5 or later. As well as providing a significant number of additional features, the software's main benefit is its lightning fast performance. Most users will see up to a 4x overall improvement in performance and throughput when it is used.

Lightning LEN. Lightning LEN is a high performance LEN output plugin for the Harlequin RIP that is designed to output Esko compatible LEN files. Combining a Harlequin RIP and Lightning LEN gives Esko users access to what is widely acknowledged as being the fastest RIP on the planet.

Try Before You Buy. This feature allows users to unlock and try most of the options available within the Harlequin RIP on a free trial basis.
