●System configuration is dramatically improved by replacing PC gateways with the MESInterface IT “Information Appliance” that has industrial level reliability.
●Data flow triggers on events such as machine failure, operator action, end of cycle, etc.●Exception-based operation reduces network loading and eliminates issues caused by polling technology.

●A key issue in existing solutions is too tight or too loose coupling between the control and IT assets that create problems, such as IT system modification requiring costly changes in the control system, coordination of many parties to implement changes, or difficult separation of responsibilities between the IT and production departments. ●MESInterface IT is closely coupled to the control system for optimal data collection methodology, but it has no influence on the machine control
programming or performance. Consequently, equipment and IT personnel can work autonomously and the changing IT environment does not impact production machinery validation. Overall efficiency is improved and system improvement is easier and more cost effective.

●The MESInterface IT Workbench software (setting tool) automatically enumerates all devices present on the network and provides comprehensive performance diagnostics.
●In the factory, MESInterface IT automatically enumerates the control devices and naming to simplify data map setup and changes. On the IT side, it automatically enumerates available database elements such as schema, table and field names. Hardcopy mapping documentation becomes unnecessary and system changes occur faster and easier.

The MESInterface IT enables plant equipment to reside directly on the Enterprise Service Bus* (ESB) and to become a direct component of the enterprise IT Service Oriented Architecture* (SOA). Production equipment at all locations is integrated onto the corporate ESB* using MESInterface IT, enabling visibility across the enterprise. Any combination of production, procurement, distribution, market trend and other information can be integrated to KPI reports and dashboards or targeted to complex management functions such as determining optimal production location.
●Managing your device connections is very easy even if many vendor’s PLCs exist.●The new feature allows you to access multivendor PLC on the same Variable Screen.

●The MESInterface IT replaces all the gateway PC hardware, OS and software with a dedicated “information appliance”.●Setup of database connectivity is easy by menu driven drag and drop, yet also quite powerful by inclusion of macro logic and stored procedure execution. ●The elegant architecture and decreased integration requirements help to reduce design effort, speed deployment and enable easy
maintenance by internal resources.

■Data Store & Forward function
MESInterface IT automatically stores data from the shop floor to
a connected information system server when a check is placed
in the “Store & Forward” option box in the setting screen. Even
when a communication error occurs with the information system,
no data is lost, because the buffered data is automatically
forwarded to the information system after the connection is
restored.
■Local database function
Part of the data in the information system database can be
copied to the MESInterface IT module. By collectively copying
production instruction data from the information system to the
module, the shop floor can continue operating even in the event
of a communication error.

*ESB (Enterprise Service Bus)The ESB provides a number of functions necessary to SOA operation, such as 1) maintaining a directory of all connected services and the methods for interacting with each 2) providing the data pathways for executing service-to-service communications 3) managing rules and security for the system.
Conventional information systems are established on a department-by-department basis, and insufficient provision is made for connection between the multiple systems. This makes it difficult to share information between departments, and users are unable to bring together information from each of the information systems.
Other challenges include 1) creating a common system capable of serving all the needs for data 2) creating a robust system that has enough flexibility to adapt for changing business and market requirements 3) achieving real-time capability to support fast and accurate decision making and responsive execution.
Service Oriented Architecture is becoming the common structure for enterprise computing systems (ERP, MES, etc.) It implements modular technology in comparison to legacy systems that are more monolithic and difficult/costly to adapt over time. SOA program modules operate as “services” that are available to interact with other program modules existing on the Enterprise Services Bus (ESB*). SOA based systems promise reduced cost through better code re-use and more flexible system reconfiguration as business process requirements change. SOA systems enable more cross functional information sharing that can provide genuine productivity improvement.
The MESInterface IT allows MELSEC and other industrial control systems to exist as elements within an SOA environment. By connection to the ESB*, nearly effortless information transaction becomes possible between factory equipment and the entire range of available software applications.
What it can do
Connecting quality information and plant output information enables you to see which machines on which lines are producing the most defects.
Mutual linkage of information on quality, “recipes,” and part/material supplies allows easy identification of products that are frequently subject to defects, as well as suppliers of their components.

Using quality information in tandem with other information enables you to easily analyze the causes of defects and take rapid action, reducing the number of defective products that reach the market.
Connecting equipment operation information and production output information enables you to see which lines are causing bottlenecks and optimize the balance between your lines.
When a problem occurs in the production plant, information can be transmitted to the information system seamlessly and in real time, enabling users to take fast action towards a solution.
Instructions can also be issued to the production plant from the information systems. For example, when production recipe instructions are transmitted to an HMI, the recipe information can be changed in real time.

System configuration (3rd party PLC)System configuration (MELSEC)
The MESInterface IT engine is a software product that runs on the Q12DCCPU-V C Controller Module ●The MESInterface IT is able to access installed PLC No. 1 and PLCs in a network (MELSEC-Q and MELSEC-F Series).●By installing the Workbench (setting management tool) in the PC, settings can be made/managed via Ethernet. ●The Workbench automatically detects MESInterface IT modules on the same network. It also automatically retrieves the configuration information (schema) of the host information system database.
The MESInterface IT is able to access 3rd party PLC by installing package files for drivers to MESInterface IT. *1
