AutoUSA Announces Free White Paper For Auto Dealers: Pre-Qualified Pay-ment Marketing With Payment Pro

Fort Lauderdale, FL - Aut-oUSA Internet Sales Solutions (http://www.autousadealers.com) announced today the avail-ability of a free white paper for auto dealers, titled “Pre-Qualified Payment Marketing: Converting Online Car Shoppers to Custom-ers.” The white paper gives an overview of the current payment marketing options offered by dealers to their online custom-ers, outlining the benefits and drawbacks of each. The paper then compares these options to Payment Pro powered by DriveIt-Now®, a new product that offers online customers instant, real payment quotes and delivers pre-qualified leads to auto dealers. In addition, the white paper shares proven results in a case study featur-ing Grubbs Nissan in Dallas, Texas.

“Since we launched Pay-ment Pro in early August, we have received many inquiries from dealers about how this revolutionary payment market-ing option impacts the bottom line,” said Mike Shawd, Vice President, Sales of AutoUSA. “This white paper demonstrates ex-actly how Payment Pro works, how it differs from other available tools and how it converts more online shop-pers into pre-qual-ified leads from

the dealer’s own web site that close at an average of 20%.”

The white paper delves into what is most important to con-sumers in the car buying pro-cess, including:

• The answer to the ques-tion, “What is the monthly pay-ment and how does my credit affect it?” Most customers know their monthly budget, but often don’t know the corresponding vehicle cost to achieve their tar-get monthly payment.

• Completing most of the car buying process online before talking to a dealer, and progress-ing themselves down the sales funnel at their own pace.

• Protecting personal in-formation; most consumers

don’t want to share their so-cial security numbers, date of birth etc. and don’t want their credit scores affected with credit checks.

• A desire for information provided by car dealers to be more complete and more accu-rate.

In addition, the white paper outlines the benefits of prequali-fied payment marketing:

• Close more existing web-site visitors

• Increased leads & closing ratios

• Keeps consumer engaged• Consumers are less likely

to consider alternative financing• Additional F&I profit per

Auto Sales To Remain Strong Analysts SayDETROIT, MI — Whether it’s

out of necessity or desire, Ameri-cans continued to buy cars and trucks at a strong pace in Sep-tember, according to industry analysts.

Data from dealerships across the nation show that new vehicle sales should hit an annual rate of 14.5 million vehicles for the month, continuing a rebound that began in June, according to

J.D. Power and Associates.Citi Investment Research also

is forecasting a strong month, in the low- to mid-14 million range. Sales should be up 11 percent over September of last year as autos continued to be a bright spot in an otherwise confused and sputtering economy, accord-ing to LMC.

Much of the increase is driv-en by pent-up demand as people

continue to replace aging cars and trucks that they’ve been driving since the Great Reces-sion. The average age of a vehicle in the U.S. is approaching 11 years.

Pickup truck demand is helping to drive the sales, with September building on momen-tum from a strong August, Itay Michaeli, an industry analyst for

Bench Controls Now Available for Shockwave™ Equipped SmartLift

Inground LiftsMadison, Ind. – A new bench

controls package from Rotary Lift makes it possible to integrate the operating controls and power unit of a Shockwave-equipped SmartLift inground lift into work-bench systems produced by a number of manufacturers.

Customers can now choose between three operating con-trols/power unit configurations for new Shockwave-equipped SmartLift inground lifts: bench, pedestal and wall-mounted.

“Offering a variety of configu-rations gives our customers the flexibility to design service facili-ties that best meet their specific needs,” explains John Rylee, Rotary Lift director of marketing.

Many customers like bench controls for aesthetic reasons. Housing the power unit and con-trols in the workbench can give the service department a sleeker, cleaner look. Bench controls can also increase technician conve-nience, since he or she can stand in one place to both raise the lift and collect the tools needed for the job. The bench controls fea-ture user-friendly one-touch but-tons to raise and lower the lift.

Rotary Lift introduced Shock-wave-equipped vehicle lifts in November 2011. They are the

world’s fastest lifts, with rise and lower speeds that are at least twice as fast as standard lifts. Shockwave-equipped SmartLift inground lifts run on environ-mentally friendly DC power. They have built-in chargers that use 110V current, eliminating the need for expensive 220V wiring, and reducing daily electricity use. Shockwave also includes an exclusive Spotline™ laser spotting guide and a choice of patent-pending superstructures to enable technicians to spend less time positioning the vehicle for service.

The Shockwave system is available on new Rotary Lift two-post and SmartLift inground lifts. A Shockwave retrofit perfor-mance package is also available to upgrade existing SmartLift inground lifts.

For more information about Shockwave-equipped SmartLift inground lifts and the new bench controls package, contact your local Rotary Lift distributor, visit www.rotarylift.com/shockwave, or call (800) 640-5438. Enterprise Car Sales Rings Up Donations for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals

St. Louis, MO – Enterprise Car Sales, which specializes in helping credit unions of all sizes to increase auto loan volume, works nationwide to support Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals and the Credit Unions for Kids pro-gram. Through bowl-a-thons, trivia nights, golf tournaments, walks/runs, restaurant nights and more, Enterprise raises ap-proximately $100,000 annually through local Enterprise offices and the Enterprise Holdings Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the company that oper-ates Enterprise Car Sales.

“Enterprise Car Sales is ac-tively committed to the Credit Unions for Kids program,” said Paula Anderson, Vice President, Marketing, Anheuser-Busch Employees’ Credit Union. “Their excitement and enthusiasm have a great impact on everyone involved. It’s wonderful to have a business partner with such a strong commitment to the same charitable organization.”

Anderson noted two annual events in St. Louis that exem-plify Enterprise’s level of involve-ment. “At the CMN Hospitals Radiothon, it’s always a pleasure to see the Enterprise Car Sales team commit to a long afternoon time slot and make it their own, challenging their co-workers to donate, making calls and having fun – all in support of our local children’s hospitals. And their annual CMN Hospitals bowl-a-thon for credit union employees is always a sellout. Our employ-ees look forward to this fundrais-er every year,” said Anderson.

“Supporting causes that are important to credit union mem-bers gives us an opportunity to reinforce our company’s found-ing values to support the com-

munities in which we do busi-ness, as well as to demonstrate that we are more just than a used car dealer,” said Brooke Gilchrist, National Business Development Manager for Enter-prise Car Sales, who has volun-teered on both the CMN Hospi-tals of Greater St. Louis Board as well as the national Young Lead-ers for Kids Board supporting Credit Unions for Kids.

The St. Louis area Enterprise Car Sales Group also holds an annual trivia night/silent auc-tion and a 5K run and partici-pates in the CMN Hospitals’ golf tournament, contributing a total of approximately $14,000 a year.

In addition to St. Louis, similar activities are taking place with other Enterprise Car Sales groups nationwide. For example, the Oregon group not only par-ticipates in the CMN Hospitals Telethon to benefit Dorenbecher Children’s Hospital, they also support Rivermark one of its large credit union partners in its annual cookie-dough drive. In Virginia, Enterprise Car Sales raised more than $10,000 for local CMN Hospitals through-out the state through its “Cars for Kids” campaign by donating $250 for each vehicle sold to a member of a participating credit union.

“During these hard economic times, children’s hospitals are treating even more children in their emergency rooms because families that lack adequate health insurance know that children’s hospitals won’t turn away any child,” said Joe Dear-born, Senior Director for the Credit Unions for Kids program. “Our partners at Enterprise Car Sales have done a wonderful job teaming with credit unions throughout the country to sup-

port Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.”

“We are pleased to join the credit union industry in support-ing CMN Hospitals, which ben-efit so many children and their families across the nation,” said Gilchrist. “We really appreciate the tremendous enthusiasm that our team of volunteers has for this very important cause.”

About Children’s Miracle Net-work Hospitals

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals is a non-profit organi-zation that raises funds for more than 170 children’s hospitals. Countless individuals, organiza-tions and media partners unite with the charity to help sick and injured kids in local communi-ties. Donations to CMN Hospitals create miracles by funding medi-cal care, research and education that saves and improves the lives of 17 million children >>each year. Everglades Boats Adds Tournament Design To Fleet

By: A Dealer’s Journal Staff

Stephen Dougherty has been fishing and tinkering since he was old enough to stand. As a youngster, he took things apart and put them back together, played with wires and asked his dad how everything with moving parts worked. So it is no won-der, as presi-dent of Ever-glades Boats, he is the design visionary and innovative brain behind each and every one of their 17 models.

Known for building luxury family fishing boats, Ever-glades Boats recently introduced their first tournament design, the 355T. (Editor’s note: The new boat is featured on our front cover this month.) “All our boats are worthy of fishing tournaments,” Dough-erty said. “The 355T has a little more of a tournament-specific design.”

Starting with the popular and well-established 35-foot hull, Stephen completely redesigned every detail from the hull up. Fifty new molds were made for

the center console “T” design including the deck, hatch covers and work station.

According to Dougherty, the center of gravity moves between the cuddy cabin, center-console

and second station designs, so a great deal of effort is put into de-signing the hull to allow for the variations. “We continue to retool as we learn,” he said.

All Everglades Boats hulls are designed by Stephen’s father, CEO Bob Dougherty. The senior Dougherty invented and patented the Rapid Molded Core Assem-bly Process, or RAMCAP, which allows the fiberglass skins to be assembled around pre-molded foam, making it light weight and

durable. This is unlike the tra-ditional process of injecting the foam core between the hull and the deck.

“Ours is the best process in the world to manufacture a hull,”

Stephen said, referring to RAMCAP. “A properly built hull is where everything starts. I’ve been criticized for building new boats without building a new hull design. It’s like when Mercedes builds a new car they don’t build new tires.”

The main workstation has a clean design with lid access to a fresh and raw water sink, cutting board and optional electric grill. The lid conveniently holds four leader spools, pliers and knives.

Standard fare is Ste-phen’s patented, signature hydraulic windshield, which can be opened for better night visibility or closed for

protection from adverse ele-ments.

Innovative, large tackle boxes sit port and starboard of the workstation. Designed by the younger Dougherty, they have drawers holding Plano-style boxes with additional storage in back. The dedicated starboard tackle locker under the gunwale holds up to 40 lures with lead-ers.

The 355T factory-installed

hour. Dougherty made sure this model has extended fuel capac-ity.

“You have all the horsepower so you don’t have to run the engines at full throttle,” Stephen said. “But the extra power is nice

when a captain says, ‘Let’s fish 10 more minutes to see if we can catch a bigger one,’ which turns

into 30 minutes and there is a need to get back to base quickly for a weigh-in.”

Dealers for Everglades Boats were introduced to the 355T

during their annual meeting at the Edgewa-ter, Fla. headquarters. After reviewing the spec sheet and going on sea trials, the rousing consensus was, “This is what we’ve been looking for,” according to Stephen. The 355T will be at many of the upcoming boat shows including Annapolis, Ft. Lauderdale and Miami.

“The dealers called it a home run” he said. “Dad and I couldn’t agree more.”

Plans are underway for a 40-foot “plus” boat, the largest in their fleet.

“A bigger boat takes a year of design work before we get start-ed. We will begin sometime next year, but dad has already drawn

the basic hull de-sign,” said Stephen, who fish-es as of-ten as he can and brings all of his life experi-ences to the design room.

“We don’t do something

unless we can do it better than anyone else,” he said.

second station option is sportier and smaller than those on previ-ous 32-foot and 35-foot models. It has a dedicated stereo system and cup and rod holders. Designed by the younger Dougherty, one person can fold and secure the second sta-tion. “I used a high-pressure assist pis-ton to raise and lower it,” Stephen said. “It’s simple and takes less than one min-ute to secure. The second station is a great op-tion. It makes it a better fishing boat and, even if you don’t fish, it’s a nice place to be.”

Extra-large, 120-gallon and 78-gallon fish holding boxes are at the bow and stern respective-ly. Centered across the transom is a 40-gallon live well flanked by coolers or the optional thermo-stat controlled refrigerator and freezer.

Exclusive to the 355T is the ability to lock up to 18 50-pound rods and reels plus additional smaller rigs. “It really saves lug-ging gear on and off the boat,” Stephen noted.

The head touts a china toilet bowl with macerator and hold-ing tank. The stylish clear-glass, fresh water sink sits on the gran-ite counter top and the storage compartments are cedar-lined with teak accents.

Engine power is customized for each buyer with a choice of Yamaha, Honda or Mercury

Viper Motorcycle Company To Dis-play At The 12th Annual Dodge Viper

Owners InvitationalAUBURN, Ala., Viper Motor-

cycle Company, a wholly owned division of Viper Powersports, announced plans to display at the 12th Annual Dodge Viper Owners Invitational in Concord, NC.

Colbert Seagraves, Viper Mo-torcycle Company VP of Market-ing and Racing Operations stat-ed, “We are extremely pleased to be displaying our new “Black Diamond Edition” at this invita-tion only Dodge Viper event, it will allow us to showcase a very unique motorcycle. Several years ago we participated in a Viper VS Viper VS Viper event that pitted our Viper Mamba (prototype mo-torcycle) against a Dodge Viper car and an Air Force Viper Jet and the Viper Mamba won.”

There will be over a thousand Dodge Viper owners attending the four-day event, which will include drag racing competition at zMAX Dragway and racing on the road course across the street at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The Viper display will in-clude the 2013 limited edition, numbered and badged “Black Diamond Edition” Diamond-back. This motorcycle entitles its owners membership into a very exclusive club of motorcycle enthusiasts who prefer high performance, innovative styling, and a distinctive brand. With its 152 C.I. Viper/Ilmor engine the Black Diamond also features a 1960′s muscle car paint job, black-hard carbon forks, black chrome parts & black anodized

and post-machined wheels with matching pulley. This motorcycle is the best of the best and you have to ride it to experience just how good it really is. During the event, demo rides will be offered for qualified riders.

John Silseth, CEO of Viper Powersports stated, “We have had a long standing relationship with the Viper Owners Group and we are excited to continue building on that affiliation. These are the type of events that will help us build the Viper brand and show the world that the Viper Diamondback is a produc-tion motorcycle that is second to none in styling, performance, power, & reliability.

credit card owner may be out of the country, or they might be corporate-issued credit cards so large purchases wouldn’t be flagged by the credit card compa-nies, said Savage.

But once the actual credit card owner realizes their card has been compromised and noti-fies their financial institution, the dealership is responsible for reimbursing the sale transaction to the financial institution, he said.

“And in that case, the car dealer is the victim twice they have to reimburse the financial institution, and they’re out their vehicle,” he said.

RCMP are urging people to be vigilant because this type of fraud can affect any merchant or business.

“Merchants accepting credit cards over the phone are plac-

ing themselves at financial risk if they are unable to confirm the identity of the card owner,” said Savage.

Veteran salesman fell victimStephen Dickinson, who sells

cars in Woodstock, says the fraud happened to him.

A woman in Ontario, identify-ing herself as Rosa Brown, said she wanted to buy a 2007 Honda Accord for her sister, said Dick-inson.

“We corresponded over prob-ably a two-day period and, you know, she wanted to know if it was in an accident and wanted the car proof report and, you know, everything a normal cus-tomer would ask,” he said.

Dickinson says he checked out the woman’s information and the payment went through on the MasterCard number she gave.

A day or two later, the car

was transported by a Woodstock towing company to join a larger shipment to Ontario.

The towing company soon realized it had been stiffed and called Dickinson to warn him.

“My heart pretty well thumped out of my chest,” Dick-inson said.

“It was like my goodness, I’ve never ever had this happen. I mean, I’ve been in the car busi-ness 13 years and to have pos-sibly, you know, a $12,000 to $13,000 car that could be gone.”

Dickinson was lucky, how-ever. Officials tracked down the tow truck driver before the car was delivered.

But RCMP say some vehicles have not been recovered, while others turned up in containers in Halifax and Toronto, ready to be shipped overseas.

Citi, wrote in a note to investors on Monday. Pickup truck sales always jump in the fall as drivers get ready for winter with four-wheel-drive vehicles in snowy states. But the increase also is coming from purchases by small businesses, fueled by a recover-ing housing market.

Analysts say there’s a direct correlation between stronger

home building and pickup truck sales.

U.S. builders broke ground on 2.3 percent more homes and apartments in August than July, the best rate of single-family home construction since April 2010.

But there’s bad economic news to counteract the good. Manufacturing activity has weakened, and the leading index

of economic indicators dropped slightly in August. Hiring still is languishing and unemployment remains at 8.1 percent.

Yet LMC and J.D. Power are predicting that retail sales to individuals will be 12 percent higher than September 2011, an indicator of a healthy auto sales market.

Chrysler Resists Parts Of CAW Deals With Ford And General Motors

Chrysler continues to oppose much of the pattern the Cana-dian Auto Workers established in agreements with Ford and Gen-eral Motors, CAW President Ken Lewenza said.

The CAW and Chrysler resumed meetings after suspending dis-cussions.

The Auburn Hills automaker still had not provided the union with a com-prehensive economic proposal, said Dino Chiodo, chairman of Chrysler’s bargaining committee and president of CAW Local 444.

The CAW wants Chrys-ler to embrace the pattern established with Ford and GM. The union’s members who work at Ford ratified a four-year agreement and GM members, are scheduled to vote on a deal.

In a leaflet distributed to workers, the union said the Ford ratifica-tion and GM’s tentative agreement put the CAW in a stronger position with Chrysler.

The CAW’s agree-ments with Ford and GM include signing bo-nuses of about $3,000, as well as three annual, lump-sum payments of $2,000 for cost of liv-ing in 2013, 2014 and 2015 and the reactiva-tion of cost-of-living adjustments in 2016.

However, Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne

has said that the union must agree to lower labor costs if it wants a guarantee of jobs and investments.

“Chrysler has said repeat-edly their cost structure is much different from GM and Ford; therefore the union has to re-spond differently on multiple fronts,” Lewenza said.

Chrysler op-poses the up-front, $3,000 per-worker signing bonus that GM and

Ford agreed to pay, as well as the cost-of-living increases in 2016, according to several news reports.

Chrysler employs more than

8,000 workers in Canada, com-pared with GM’s 5,800 and Ford’s 4,500 CAW members covered by the new contracts. A

$3,000 sign-ing bonus would cost Chrysler more than $24 million.

Last year, the UAW al-lowed Chrysler to

break a $3,750 ratification bonus into two payments after winning a $6,000 bonus from Ford and $5,000 from GM.

The first $1,750 was paid to UAW workers shortly after they ratified the con-tract. The second payment will be provided after the automaker meets

a profit-to-debt ratio of 5-1 for four consecutive quarters.

Historically, the Detroit Three have agreed to similar deals with

the CAW so that no automaker has a competitive advantage when it comes to labor costs.

“All three com-panies, frankly, have the financial ability to meet the pattern, and that just is going to be the conversa-tion we will have ...with Chrysler,” Lewenza said.
