opto-couplers before the drive can be enabled
SAFE TORQUE OFF (STO)TheSafeTorqueOff(STO)functionisdefinedinIEC61800-5-2.Twochannelsareprovidedwhich,whende-energized,preventtheupperandlowerdevicesinthePWMoutputsfromproducingtorqueinthemotor.
ThisprovidesapositiveOFFcapabilitythatcannotbeoverriddenbythecontrolfirmware,orassociatedhardwarecomponents.Whentheopto-couplersareenergized(currentisflowingintheinputdiodes),thecontrolcorewillbeabletocontroltheon/offstateofthePWMoutputstoproducetorqueinthemotor.
STO DISABLEInorderforthePWMoutputsoftheAPVtobeactivated,currentmustbeflowingthroughtheopto-couplersthatareconnectedtotheSTO-IN1andSTO-IN2terminalsandthedrivemustbeinanENABLEDstate.Wheneitheroftheopto-couplersareOFF,thedriveisinaSafeTorqueOff(STO)stateandthePWMoutputscannotbeactivatedbythecontrolcoretodriveamotor.
Thisdiagramshowsconnectionsthatwillenergizealloftheopto-couplersfroma+5Vsource.WhenthisisdonetheSTOfeatureisdisabledandcontroloftheoutputPWMstageisundercontrolofthedigitalcontrolcore. If not using the STO feature, these connections must be made in order for the drive to be enabled.
