    Job title: Digital Content Intern (6 months)

    Reports to: Editor, Hiive

    Location: Creative Skillset, Kings Cross, London

    Job context:

    Creative Skillset is developing a new digital platform for the UKs Creative Industries,Hiive, that will connect people, employers and service providers to help develop thetalent and skills these industries need for their future success.

    The Creative Industries includes Entertainment Media, Publishing, Fashion andTextiles, Design and Music, and Advertising, Marketing and Communications, andcomprises the most important UK industrial grouping outside of Financial Services.(For further information see www.creativeskillset.org).

    The service will launch in beta at the end of 2013, and will continue to developthrough 2014 into a permanent self-funded platform of activities delivered acrossmultiple channels and via a range of partnerships.

    We are looking for a quick-footed, tech-savvy candidate who can demonstrate avariety of skills across a range of tasks. The intern will be resourceful, an intuitive andcreative thinker and love a challenge. Theyll have a can do attitude and enjoygetthing their hands dirty. Theyll be dynamic and organisaed and thrive on newchallenges.

    Job purpose:

    To support the Editor and work with a team of interns to implement the content strategy forHiive, writing and curating content, and helping to build the Hiive community.

    The Digital Content Intern will gain valuable skills and experience in developing launch contentfor a new online service and building an audience through content and communitymanagement post-launch.

    The Intern will develop their already sound journalistic skills, from pitching original andstimulating content to developing human interest angles tailored to the growing communityacross a variety of creative sectors.

    They will have the opportunity to create, promote and track content for a wide range ofaudiences, gain insights into what makes compelling content, acquire the skills to optimiseeverything they write for the web, and learn how to shape content in response to a growingcommunity's needs and wants.

    This is a fixed term role for six months from the interns start date.This role is perfect forsomeone making their first move into media, design or journalism. This is a rare opportunity tobe given real responsibility from start-to-finish on an exciting new project that will have alasting impact on the UKs creative industries.

    Key responsibilities:

    Writing, editing and publishing web pages on Hiive

    Optimising content for search engines and tagged in line with Hiives metadata framework

    to drive content personalisation.

    Researching and proposing story ideas suitable for the Hiive community.

    Repurposing existing Creative Skillset content assets for the Hiive community in the Hiive

    tone of voice.

    Interviewing people in the creative industries to create inspiring case study articles and

    profile features.

    Identifying and cultivating new content partnerships, in conjunction with the Editor.

    Curating and adapting partner content for the Hiive community, adopting the Hiive tone of

    voice.

    Assisting in the production of multimedia features, such as videos and photo galleries.

    Sourcing and writing up case studies and successs across the platform

    Reporting on audience KPIs and performance targets relating to content and community,

    in conjunction with the Editor.

    Engaging with the Hiive community, driving discussions around key topic areas

    and responding to queries and requests.

    Moderating community activity, responding to any issues in line with the Hiive community

    governance policy and in collaboration with the Editor.
