TLC

This is the front cover of the 90’s girl band TLC. The design of the cover is used to attract the groups target audience. The colourful, bold writing which tells you the bands name accompanies a picture of the group showing their individual personalities. I think that this front cover idea would be ideal for my group because we want our girl band to be presented in the same way, as fun and lively. The name of the band is in big letters which also draws attention to the cover and makes sit more appealing to the target audience.

PCD aka Pussycat Dolls

PCD have one of the most genre and target audience related digipack covers. Their image relates to their target audience in the way that it presents girl power so, the audience knows that this band is appealing to females. We are also aware that this promotes girl power because the slogan says , “ Doll Domination”. The contrasting colours also draw attention to the front cover as the bright colours against the grey attract target audience attention making it suitable for their target audience. The genre of music this band produces is pop/RnB. This is shown through the costume they are wearing. The clothing is typical RnB/pop clothing so it relates right back to the genre of music being promoted.

ENVOGUE

The purple background sets a tone for the single inside the digipak. The purple is also a feminine colour so the audience knows that the girl band focus’ on female power, the purple is suitable because of the age group of the girls. The Pink and orange writing with the band name is the focus point of the cover and attracts the female target audience. The font isn’t captivating as much as other covers are however, the font of the writing presents the bands style of the band and the type of music they produce.

Destiny’s Child

This goes against typical RnB girl band digipak covers as the audience does not see a long shot of the females in a formation or posing with minimal clothing. This shows the girls in a natural pose with natural make up and this introduces another side to Destiny’s child. The theme of girl power still runs however the girls are presented as mature women which goes against their previous covers. This shows a new side to the band and appeals to a wider audience.

SWV

The style of the cover reflects the time the single was released however the way the girls are presented on the cover mimics how we would like to present our girl band. The purple again shows the feminine theme however, with the black it represents a hard/tough style to the girls. The image of the band standing close looking straight ahead shows the unity between the girls and presents them as a fun loving group.
