County 4-H Food Show

The Food Show has been rescheduled for Friday, March 5th. Food items can be checked in Thursday afternoon or Friday morning (by 9:30 a.m.). Judging will begin at 10:30. See enclosed

flyer for specific classes and other information.

State Record books All 4-H members in grades 8-12 are encouraged to turn in a state record book. Several prizes and scholarships are awarded each year - based on state record books. There are new record book forms that must be used. Contact Jean at the county office for more infor-mation. Deadline to submit a book is April 19th.

Red Wheel Fundraiser

It’s time for the annual Dewey County Fund Raiser. The money raised provides sup-plies and awards for the county 4-H programs, events, and contests. It also help pay for Dew-ey County 4-H’ers to attend camp, leadership trainings and other 4-H trips plus, a percentage of all sales goes back to the local clubs. 100% of funds raised help Dewey County youth. Awards will be presented to the top three sales people and top sales club. Contact your local leader or the county ex-tension office to get your packet. All orders and money should be turned in by March 23rd

County 4-H Officers Meeting

March 8, 2021 The county 4-H officers meeting has been rescheduled for Monday, March 8 at the fair grounds, from 4:00 - 5:30. There will be snacks, team building/leadership activity, and a fun community service project. There will al-so be discussion about spring and summer events.

OYE Revised Gilt Show

OYE announced some changes in their hog show. The changes are briefly listed blow. Contact the extension office, your 4-H leader, or Ag teacher for more information. • Dates and show schedule for barrows remain the same. • Hog showmanship has been canceled. • Gilt show will be March 24-27. • Any gilts or exhibitors found in barns

6,7,8, 9 during the gilt show will automati-cally be disqualified.

• Refunds for gilts are available until March 5th.

• If you qualify for the sale, you must sell.

Guidelines

• Entries must be checked in by 9:30 a.m. on March 5th.

• All entries should be labeled on the bottom with name and class number.

• Individuals may enter one entry in each class.

• Each class will be awarded a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, place

• An overall champion and reserve champion will be selected in each age division.

• All items must be prepared by the exhibitor.

• Exhibits will be released at the conclusion of the food show.

Drop Made from a soft dough and dropped by spoonfuls onto bak-ing sheets

Rolled Made from a stiff dough that is rolled out using a rolling pin and cut into shapes with a cookie cutter

*** Winter 4-H Challenge - January - March 2021 ***

Dewey County 4-H members are being challenged to stay active in 4-H as we progress through the year. Below are ten activities you can choose from. Members are encouraged to select a minimum of one 4-H activity per month. Fill out the chart and send it to the extension office by March 20th. Prizes will be awarded for the most points earned.

(Fashion Revue has 4 grade divisions- 3rd & 4th/5th & 6th/7th & 8th/9th-12th) Entry forms and detailed contest information packets are available from the county extension office or your local club leader. The entry fee is $10 per member for the day (no matter how many events are entered) except there is a $10 team entry fee for Robotics. All entries are due to the Dewey County Extension Office by March 25, 2021.

Dr Ron and Linda Sholar Essay Contest

Oklahoma 4-H and the Oklahoma 4-H Foundation are pleased to announce the 2021 Dr. Ron and Linda Sholar 4-H Essay Contest. Who: 4-H members who are in 8th - 12th grade and ACTIVE in 4-H Online. What: Dr Ron and Linda Sholar Essay Contest When: Essays are due to the State 4-H Awards Data Base on April 26th, 2021 by NOON. All entries become property of Oklahoma 4-H. Application includes: Dr Ron and Linda Sholar Essay Contest application (must have all appropriate signatures), essays of 850-1,000 words on the topic “ How can Oklahoma 4-H Change a Community?” and a scanned headshot of the 4-H member. Prizes: First place cash prize of $500. Second place cash prize of $300. Third place cash prize of $200.
