Why Do We Need a Watershed Protection Plan?
• Drinking water supply for nearly 500,000 people
• Prevent degradation which could lead to mandatory State and/or Federal remediation• Chlorophyll‐a Concern (2008)• TDS Impairment (2012)
• Primary source of fresh water, sediment and nutrients to the Nueces Estuary

Large Debris Management Plan
Develop a management plan to address the large submerged debris
• Form a Subcommittee for input and technical advice• Prioritize items to be removed
• City of Corpus Christi• TCEQ• Other regulatory agencies?• Stakeholders
![Page 7: Development of the Lower Nueces River Watershed Protection Plan Presentation_NRA.pdf · 2014. 7. 24. · Development of the Lower Nueces River Watershed Protection Plan Nueces River](https://reader034.fdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022052008/601d0d98457edd0d43126ce1/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
OSSF Management Plan• Subcommittee Met 06/24/2014• Meeting summary posted online• Develop a strategy to identify and prioritize likely problem areas • Proximity to the river and tributaries, unpermitted systems, no
systems• Develop a strategy for volunteer system inspections, assistance for repairs/replacements• Apply for grants, advertise for applications
• Identify possible funding sources• Economically Distressed Areas Program, Nonpoint Source
Programs, Clean Water State Revolving Fund

Regression Analysis 101
• Load Duration Curve• Combines concentrations of a pollutant with flow to develop a load
• Illustrates the allowable load of a pollutant versus flow to meet standards
• Illustrates the measured load versus the allowable load
• Determine percent reduction needed to meet standards
