SCHOOLFAMILY STUDENT TEACHER
The most important goal of education is to grow up
children as good people and good citizens.
Factors such as school, family, environment and
teacher take crucial roles in education of children.
While in the childhood phase of an individual life,
the family was responsible at the first degree in
education, social changes which appeared under the
influence of scientific and technological
improvements have caused the families to share
their responsibilities with other institutions such as
schools.
The function of schools and the other
institutions in education has supportive and
supplementary characteristic for the function
of family because love, trust, morale, warm
family environment which are necessary
during the upbringing period cannot be
transmitted by any other institutions as much
as family (Çelik, 2005).
The results of several studies in the field of
educational sciences indicate the cricial impact
of school-family cooperation (Çelenk, 2003;
Gümüşeli, 2004).
Family relations and cooperation with school,
their participation in school activities and their
support are the essential issues which are
concerned all around the world (Şişman, 2002).
There is an increasing interest among
families to play active roles at schools as a
result of recognition of families’
importance in education.
To establish a strong school-family cooperation,
true transmission of information related to
students is compulsory.
As a result, families need to know their off
sibling well and they should be knowledgeable
of their children’s interest and behaviors
(Aslanargun, 2007).
The schools which have succeed in participating
family members in education, adopt the
understanding of cooperation in all aspects of
children’s education rather than the traditional
view of simple signing actions and interaction
between just family and teacher.
These schools cooperate not only for activities
inside schools but also activities outside schools.
To establish cooperation there is no perfect method suitable for all of the schools, students or communities.
Education and in-service training are wonderful investments.
Communication is the basis of effective cooperation.
Flexibility and variety should be taken into consideration.
For school-family cooperation external sources can be beneficial in terms of financial aids and educational support.
For successful communication, continuous effort is crucial.
In cooperation projects, multi-indicators and effects of cooperation are regularly assessed.
