MICHAEL Jacksonsmusic shot the King ofPop to globalsuperstardom and thatsame music will be

making its way to Scunthorpe nextweek.

Jackson Live In Concert will take

to the Baths Hall stage on Thursday,October 17 at 7.30pm, and leadsinger Ben Bowman believes theshow is the closest fans can get toseeing the man himself.

Ben, who started a career as aMichael Jackson impersonator eightyears ago, said he hoped audienceswould go away remembering thegreat entertainer and not thecontroversial aspects of his life.

When I started to do this, MichaelJackson wasnt a particularlyfashionable man to like and peoplewerent really listening to him, hesaid.

But his music has stood the testof time and if people go away havingenjoyed themselves and relived it,thats enough for me.

The stage show features anine-piece band, four dancers andtheir own lighting set-up, but Benacknowledges his good fortune in

getting to this stage.Not everybody gets to make aliving from their passion, Ive beenreally lucky, he said.

I grew up with Michaels music,and basically got a little bit obsessed I was one of those kids who triedto dress and dance like him.

It was one of my old teachers whosuggested I gave it a go, and itstaken me all over the world.

He said the show incorporatesfeatures from all three of Jacksonsworld tours, and has takeninspiration from the stars plans forhis This Is It run at Londons O2Arena. He said: The great thingabout Michael Jacksons music isthat theres so much great material,theres something for everyone.

Of course we want to play thefavourites everyone is waiting forThriller, Billie Jean and the like

but some of the best reactions weget are when we do some of theJackson Five songs.

FOLLOWING a successful run in May,Appleby-Frodingham Theatrical Society willonce again bring Calendar Girls to the stageof Scunthorpes Plowright Theatre.The much-loved play by Tim Firth will beperformed by the group from next Wednesday,October 16 to Saturday, October 19 at 7.30pmeach night.It is based on the true story of the WomensInstitute branch of Knapely Village inYorkshire, who decide to pose for a somewhatunorthodox calendar when a membershusband is diagnosed with non-HodgkinLymphoma.
