2017 Dues Notice

Dear Nobles and Ladies,

As I sit here pondering what to say in my final “Potentate’s Message”, the most important thing that comes to mind is a huge “Thank You”! Thank you for putting your trust in me to lead this great Shrine Temple. I believe that we

have had a good year, but not because of me, but because of all of you. Our theme this year was “Team 16”, and it has been a team effort all the way. Your participation through the year has been great and it is my hope that you continue the support to Al Bahr Shrine and our great philanthropy.

There are some special individuals that I would be remiss if I did not recognize, the office and building staff, they never said no, no matter what idea I came up with. Between our Purveyor, Nancy Ford, John and the rest of their crew we were always well nourished. Speaking of nour-ished the Islander’s not only put on a great meal for the Scottish Rite visitation, they ran the first ever “Potentate’s Cup” golf tournament, that was a great success. Thanks to our Director’s Staff for their creative efforts in support of special events and ceremonials. Thanks to our Clowns and Tin Lizzies for all the events in addition to our Temple events that they participate in and show the Fez. Last but definitely not least thanks to the 2016 Divan, they have been supportive all the way, whether it be attending unit and club events or the numerous visits to our Masonic Lodges. Speaking of Masonic Lodges, thanks to Tex Perry who took me up on my offer to hold a short form ceremonial in Fallbrook Lodge that resulted in eight new Nobles. I know I already said last but not least, and I know I missed a couple of introductions early in the year, as Chief Ambas-sador Fred Nasseri can attest to. I couldn’t do any of these things with the support and love of my Lady Barbara. Thank you, Sweetheart.

In a few short days, on Thursday, December 8th we will have our Election of Officers please keep in mind that there is no automatic progression in the Shrine. You will be electing seven Divan members and four representatives to Shriners International. Please choose wisely that individual that you are willing to follow and that you trust to make the major financial decisions for your Shrine. The election meeting is a stag meeting and will begin at 7:30PM. There will be light refreshments.

Saturday, December 10th is the Al Bahr Holiday Party. The dinner will be Prime Rib, there will be lots of goodies including an “Ugly Sweater Contest”, live music from The Other Band, a special kid’s menu and of course Santa. We have a special rate for rooms at the Residence Inn right next door @ $99.00 plus tax, please call 858-278-2100 for hotel reservations. Dinner reservations are a must through the office at 858-292-0092.

Thank you for your year long support and Happy Holidays to all,

Lou Hahn

Chaplain’s Message-Abe Rabbitch

Ladies and Nobles, once again, as the holiday season is upon us. I would offer up this simple prayer. Great architect of the universe, you have given us feet to move, and a mind to imagine new things and places and people. You have made us to travel and explore your wonderful world. Thank you for this gift. Still, this world over which we move is wrought with dangers and threats. When we travel, we are vulnerable. Please protect our steps. Protect us on the road, and in the air. Please watch over us. Shield us from evil and the Ones who would use this opportunity to bring destruction. Bring us safely there and back home again. In your name we pray, Amen.

Recorder’s OfficeWell, it’s done! The new HVAC system has been installed and is online. Now we start to program it for the most optimal performance and financial savings for the membership. I’d like to thank Illustrious Sir Don Wierman for bringing all his expertise to bear and taking on the task of keeping the HVAC project on track and under budget! Woohoo! The next big project we are looking at is adding solar panels on the shed to really bring down our electric bill. We may be looking at a 30-40% reduction in our monthly bills by adding a solar system. This would be a great savings to our op-erational budget every year. Look for more information coming soon about this. Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Seasons Greetings to all of our Shriners and their families from the recorder and the recorders office staff. You can email us at [email protected] , call us at 858-292-0092, and even send us a fax at 858-292-5618. If you would like to send a pri-vate note to the recorder you can do that at [email protected]. .
