December 2009 DPW closes lane of Great Highway due to storm damage to bluff, road and parking lots

and engages GGNRA/NPS

January 2010 After more bluff is lost, DPW closes southbound lanes of GH at Sloat and engages

engineering firms to prepare emergency repair options Governor, Mayor, Director of Public Works declare storm-related emergencies.

February 2010 Field reviews with all necessary federal and state agencies and permits attained Emergency Repair selected to stabilize toe and repairs begin City and Caltrans evaluate roadway City requests state funding for emergency repairs to reopen road and long term funding

for permanent repairs.

March 2010 DPW selects firm to design Emergency Roadway Opening project DPW meets with Caltrans and FHA to review site/assess federal involvement
