The Right Door: Delivering and Reporting on Results Delivering and Reporting on Results Adoption of Deliverology renews the Government’s focus on Results-Based Management A New Policy on Results The Government’s new Policy on Results, and the supporting Directive on Results came into effect on July 1, 2016, replacing a suite of policies and directives under the Policy on Management, Resources and Results Structure and the Policy on Evaluation. The objectives of the new policy include: • Clear statements on what departments are trying to achieve • Departments monitor and measure performance against stated expected results and use performance information in decision making to improve programs and services to Canadians • Departments allocate resources based on performance information to optimize results • Departments provide transparent and clear performance reports to Parliamentarians and Canadians at large outlining the results and achieved and level of resources that were expended The More Things Change,The More They Stay the Same The new Policy on Results sets a renewed focus on results-based management and the utilization of performance information to drive decision making.The new policy lays out new requirements for departments in terms of governance and leadership for performance measurement, program oversight, and evaluation, and reiterates the requirement to ensure performance information is available to evaluate programs and verify the expected results are being delivered. However, the new policy launches a transition to a different approach for departments in articulating their strategic level objectives, the results they will deliver, and how they allocate resources out through their programs to generate those results. The implementation of the new policy, therefore, is the transference of departmental objectives, expected results and performance indicators documented in Performance Alignment Architectures and Performance Measurement Frameworks and adapted and repopulated in the new Results Frameworks, Program Inventories, and Performance Information Profiles.
