Delaware Skipper Butterfly Delaware skipper butterflies belong to a family of butterflies that look very similar so it can be difficult to identify the different species. These small butterflies are very brightly colored golden/orange. They can be found in marshes, prairies, bogs, open woods, fields, meadows, gardens and yards. The host plants include grasses such as bluestems and switchgrass. They often hold their wings pressed together over their backs when at rest.
