From the Pastor This is exciting! The catalogue you are now holding is your chance to be a part of an amazing adventure we call luvHAITI. On September 13th 2009, Deep Water unveiled its strategy to focus all of its international efforts, from missions to relief and development, in Haiti and more specifically on the island of La Gonave. We work with Compassion Canada and Global Partners who have the experience, expertise and ongoing presence that allow us to maximize our investment. They operate the only hospital and much of the clinic based health care, provide the water and electricity for the main town of Anse-a-Galets, operate many schools, and help to resource several churches. On a recent visit, we installed solar LED lights at an orphanage. It seemed like a good idea to save on their electrical bill. Then I learned that the orphanage has no electricity and, until these lights were installed, had no source of artificial light. Such a simple investment with such a big return. You can be part of similar investments such as providing farm animals for families or microloans for small businesses. Help Set Up a Small Business The picture above features John, a local entrepreneur. With start up assistance, he took land that was desolate and has been growing Moringa trees for the past 3 years. The ground up tree leaves provide important nutrition for malnourished children. Help others like John get started in business. A business such as farming, sewing, carpentry, baking, or making pottery can provide for a family. Once loans are repaid, your donation will be loaned to an other entrepreneur to help them start their business. Make a smart investment this Christmas. Educational Gifts

New School Supplies Pens, paper, pencils, rulers, crayons and erasers may not seem significant. However, these basic school supplies are greatly valued by families in Haiti. Proper supplies let students perform daily classroom tasks, keep up with their studies and continue their education. Help families obtain the basic supplies they need.

Support a Teacher Support a teacher for a week and help provide an education for children at Madame Solitte's Orphanage/School. At present, there are 57 children in the orphanage/school. Doc on a Boat Many on the island of La Gonave will go their entire lives without seeing a doctor. Approximately 80,000 people or 80% of the population live in rural communities on the island. These communities are hours or days away from health care facilities. Families may have to travel on very bad roads and often have no transportation. Help families receive the health care they need. Provide resources to send mobile medical clinics throughout La Gonave to those who may otherwise never see a doctor.

Buy a Piece of the Hospital A $1.2M hospital building project is underway in Haiti. The new hospital will be built in Anse-a-Galets, the capital of La Gonave. Construction on the hospital is scheduled to commence next year. Be part of providing the sole quality health facility to 100,000 people!

Breezy Sea is a retrofitted lobster boat that has been donated to the Wesleyan mission in La Gonave. When she arrives at her destination, Breezy Sea will replace the Mission’s current boat, the Wesleyana, and provide transportation for the missionaries and doctors from mainland Haiti to La Gonave. She will make approximately 52 trips each year and transport all supplies for the compound and hospital. Help send Breezy Sea to Haiti today!
