December Bible Readings - Selected Verses

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. (John 14:27)

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have over-come the world.” (John 16:33)

“Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” (Luke 2:14)

In Isaiah 9:6 it is revealed that the Messiah

would be the “Prince of Peace.” It shouldn’t surprise us that Jesus told us to trust him for a true and lasting peace.

We need some peace right now. The world has been even so chaotic. No one seems to be able to deliver on calm, quiet and peace. You’re not going to find lasting peace in the things bound to this world. Only Jesus can speak peace to your heart today.

As followers of Jesus this Christmas can be different. These are turbulent and uncertain times but Jesus has been and always will a the peace-giver. He can give you what you are looking for. Jesus said, “My peace I give you.” Peace. . .from the Prince of Peace. Peace on earth and peace in my heart.

I am still trying to wrap my mind around our shoebox dedication. The final number of boxes collected this year at Langley is 1047. We more than doubled our goal of 500 boxes. Five hun-dred boxes, multiplied by two and then some!

I got a call from a friend today who volunteers with Operation Christmas Child. The call began with, “How in the world. . .?”

God’s math is miracle math. A few loaves and fish fed 5000+. I’d like to image the 12 disci-

ples, each staring into a basked of leftovers asking, “what in the world?”

What happened this year with OCC is a mira-cle. God blessed. God multiplied. God is glori-fied. Now pray for God’s miracle math as the boxes go out in the world. One more thing– to whom much is given much is required. Let’s pray for a more miracles in 2021.
