The 2018 Mass Intentions book is now open. Please call or visit the Parish office to place your intentions.

Advent Tree Event: We will hold “A Baby Shower to Honor Baby Jesus.” It will take place from November 25 to December 10, 2017. This collection will be given to St. Mary’s Hospi-tal’s “Mother to Mother” program.

The Oplatki will be distributed on Decem-ber 9, 2017 during the Masses.

St. Mary’s Assumption Rosary Society will hold it’s annual Advent Celebration on De-cember 9, 2017. It will take place at Que Pas-ta in Saddle Brook, from 12pm—4pm. The cost is $35. Please contact Elizabeth Gallardo.

On Tuesday, December 12, the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe, we will be praying the rosary at 5:30am in the church. After-wards, we will gather in the cafeteria to share breakfast. All are welcome!

The Parish Council will gather on Friday, December 15, in the rectory at 7:30pm.

We will be decorating the interior of our church on Saturday, December 23 at 9am. All are welcome to come and lend a hand.

El Libro de las Intenciones de Misa del 2018 ya esta abierto. Para poner Misas para el 2018 por favor llame o visite a la oficina parroquial.

Tendremos un “Baby Shower para honrar al Niño Jesús.” Tendrá lugar del 25 de no-viembre al 10 de diciembre de 2017. Esta colección se entregará al programa de “Madre a Madre” del hospital de Santa María.

El Oplatki se distribuirá el 9 de diciembre, durante las Misas.

La Sociedad del Rosario de la Asunción de María realizará su celebración anual de Adviento el 9 de diciembre de 2017. Se lle-vará a cabo en Que Pasta en Saddle Brook, de 12 p.m. a 4 p.m. El costo es de $35. Por favor, póngase en contacto con Elizabeth Gallardo.

El martes, 12 de diciembre, la fiesta de la Virgen de Guadalupe, estaremos rezando el Rosario de la Aurora a las 5:30am en la iglesia. Después tendremos un desayuno com-partido en la cafetería. ¡Todos están invitados!

El Consejo Parroquial se reunirá el viernes, 15 de diciembre, en la rectoría a las 7:30pm.

PANORAMICA DE LA LITURGIA DE ESTE MES

Adviento no necesita muchas explicaciones; es un tiempo de espera y preparación gozosas; es un tiem-po de conversión, pero no con miedo, angustia y tristeza, sino con confianza y alegría. Un nuevo mundo es anunciado.

En este año litúrgico, las primeras lecturas para el mes de diciembre provienen de varios profetas y las lecturas del evangelio son tomadas de Juan. Todos ellos anuncian un reino de justicia, paz y alegría, que es parte del plan de Dios para todos los tiempos y se cumple en su totalidad con la venida de Cristo.

Las figuras centrales de Adviento son Juan y María. Ambos anuncian y dan paso a la luz verdadera. Se insta a los cristianos a esperar activamente el reina-do; es decir, salir y realizar algunas de las acciones de justicia y paz que se nos anuncian.

El cuarto domingo se centra en la figura de María como puerta de entrada a Dios. Lo que se pide a los seguidores de Cristo, lo que anunciaron los profetas, se cumple en María, servidora de la Palabra de Dios. La culminación de este período de preparación es la fiesta de Navidad, que conduce a la verdadera tarea de construir el Reino de Dios.

Durante diciembre también hay grandes momentos de celebración popular con la fiesta de la Inmacula-da Concepción, particularmente en Nicaragua; San Juan Diego y Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, Reina de América; las posadas; y Nuestra Señora de la Es-peranza, una celebración que inicia los preparativos a medida que se acerca la Navidad y donde se reci-tan las O Antifonas.

Advent Giving Tree Collection

Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Mary’s Church,

“Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus.” Luke 1:31.

Greetings to all! Soon we will be celebrating the Advent season. Dur-ing this season a charity is chosen to give one the opportunity to help

with much needed resources.

The “Mother to Mother” program from St. Mary’s Hospital in Passaic was chosen to receive help during this giving season. We will hold a “Baby Shower to Honor Baby Jesus.”

The Advent Tree will be displayed starting November 26, 2017. The tree will have tags written in both English and Spanish, with items that are needed to help mothers to be.

The wish list includes the following: The items are for GIRLS AND BOYS.

Socks, 0-12 months, Blankets and receiving blankets, Sleepwear, 0-12 months, Clothes, 0-12 months & Desitin ointment for diaper rash.

You are invited to take a tag or tags and purchase the item or items. All items must be brand new. No wrapping paper is necessary. All items must be returned by December 10, 2017. If tags run out please use the bulletin where all the items are listed. Thank you so much for supporting this event and bringing joy to a mother to be.

ST. NICHOLAS R.C. CHURCH CHRISTMAS GALA

Pastor Jorge Rodriguez and Parochial Vicar Jose Miguel Jimenez cordially invite you to celebrate our patron, Saint Nicholas at the annual Saint Nicholas Christmas Gala.

It will take place on Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 7pm to 11pm in St. Mary’s Auditorium.

The cost of one ticket is $25 for those 15 years of age and older.

THIS MONTH’S LITURGY AT A GLANCE

Advent does not need many explanations; it is a time of joyful waiting and preparation; it is a time of conversion, but not with fear, anguish, and sadness, but with trust and joy. A new world is announced. In this liturgical year, the first readings for the month of December are from various prophets and the readings of the gospel are taken from John. All of them announce a reign of justice, peace, and joy, which is part of God’s plan for all times and is fulfilled in its entirety with the coming of Christ. The central figures of Advent are John and Mary. They both announce and give way to the true light. Christians are urged to actively wait for the reign; that is, to go out and realize some of the actions of justice and peace that are announced to us. The fourth Sunday is centered in the figure of Mary as the gateway to God, What is asked from the followers of Christ, what the prophets announced, is fulfilled in Mary, servant of the Word of God. The culmi-nation of this period of preparation is the feast of Christmas, which leads to the true task of building the Kingdom of God. During December there are also great moments of popular celebration with the feast of the Immacu-late Conception, particularly in Nicaragua; St. Juan Diego and Our Lady of Guadalupe, Queen of America; the posadas; and Our Lady of Hope, a celebration that initiates the preparations as Christmas nears and where the O Antiphons are recited.

¡Saludos a todos! Pronto estaremos celebrando la temporada de Ad-viento. Durante esta temporada, se elige una organización benéfica pa-ra brindarle la oportunidad de ayudar con los recursos que tanto se ne-cesitan.

El programa “Madre a Madre” del Hospital St. Mary’s en Passaic fue elegido para recibir ayuda durante esta temporada de donaciones. Tendremos un “Baby Shower para Honrar al Niño Jesús.”

IGLESIA SAN NICOLÁS GALA NAVIDEÑA
