National Mathematics Day

• This is celebrated every year to celebrated the birthday of Srinivasa Ramanujan.

• He was an Indian Mathematician who contributed to the theory of numbers including pioneering discoveries of the properties of the Partition Function.

• In 1666 Guru Gobind Singh was born. He was the last of the ten Sikh Gurus. He was a warrior, poet and a philosopher.

• He contributed much to Sikhism; notable was his contribution to the continual formalization of the faith which the first Guru Guru Nanak had founded.

• his promotion of the covering of one's hair with a turban.

• He initiated the Sikh Khalsa in 1699,

passing the Guruship of the Sikhs to the Eleventh and Eternal Sikh Guru, the Guru Granth Sahib, the sacred Book of the Sikhs.

• In 1918, the foundation stone of Tagore’s Viswabharati University was laid at a special meeting of students, staff and well wishers of the Ashram at the Mango grove at Shantinikethan.

• In 1851, India's first freight train was operated in Roorkee, India.
