Off The Record is 60’s Futurist trio, and self -described rock n’ roll lounge band, that plays 60s songs and newer tunes influenced by the 60s. Join them in the Grille Roomon Friday, December 4th from 8-10 p.m. for a unique mix of vintage hits, modern

Remember those great choose your own adventure storiesfrom when you were a kid? Creative License has takenthat idea and brought it into the theatrical world with DI-

VIDED, featuring 3 original short plays penned bylocal writers that, much like those classic Choose YourOwn Adventure books of the 1980s and 90s, allow theaudience to vote to determine how the action unfolds.

Creative License was founded by local theater artists Aa-ron Holbritter and Casey Polomaine in 2014 with the goalof breaking down the barriers between the artistic worldand the general public. They have already enjoyed criticalacclaim for A Steady Rain and Dog Sees God: Confes-

sions of a Teenage Blockhead, both presented at TheAlbany Barn.

The evening begins with a light fare reception and a cash bar at 6 p.m., followed by the performance at 7 p.m. Inter-mission will feature a dessert reception and the chance foraudience members to cast their ballots to determine howthe final act will play out.

Tickets are $40 per or two for $70. Reservations are re-quired and must be made by Tuesday, December 29th bycalling the Front Desk at 518-463-1151; emailing Ellen [email protected], or by registering onlineat www.uclubevents.blogspot.com. 6:00-9:00 p.m. for t ar tans and bagpipes, songs and sto-ries, neeps & tatties, haggis, poetry, whisky, the Cup of

Kindness, and lots and lots of laughter. The evening beginswith cocktails at 6 p.m. followed by a bagpipe processionat 7 p.m. into the candlelit main dining room for a tradi-tional Scottish buffet (American options will be availableas well).

Robert Burns, born on January 25, 1759, is Scotland’smost famous poet. He died at just 37 years of age and inthat short lifetime he became Scotland’s most famous poetand lyricist, penning such works as Tam O’ Shanter, AuldLang Syne, and To a Mouse. His works have had a pro-found effect on many and, because his legacy is so well -

loved, his birthday is celebrated each year around theworld.

Dress tends to be semi-formal, with most ladies in eveningattire and gentlemen in suits, tuxedos or traditional kilts; but the atmosphere is anything but stuffy. This year’s eventwill once again be hosted by Club board member MeredithHelgerson.

This year’s presenter at Burns Sup- per will be Robert Mulligan, Associ-ate Curator, specialist in 18th centu-ry military history, New York StateMuseum (retired).

He will talk about Da-vid Lithgow, a muralistand sculptor born inGlasgow Scotland in1868, who emigratedto New York in 1888

and two years later moved to Albanywhere he lived and had his studiountil his death in 1959. Lithgow hasa number of well-known works, andwas the leading force behind con-verting the residence kitty-corner

from the Club into the St. Andrew'sSociety.
