THE SPECIAL ENVELOPES for contributions toward the Christmas decora-

tions will be in the pews on November 29, December 6 and 13. Both memori-

als and thank offerings are appropriate—just be sure to clearly write the first

and last names on the envelopes. They will be printed in the Christmas

bulletins. The deadline is December 14.

THE BOXES ARE FILLING UP!

The North Porch ones are for baby supplies—diapers, wipes, powder, lotion.

The Diocesan Prison Ministry ones are for gifts for children whose mothers are incarcerated. The children

are age 4-16/17, both boys and girls. Books, toys, games and outerwear are all welcomed. Remember—

DO NOT WRAP—GIFT BAGS ONLY!

There are two boxes for Strengthen our Sisters. One is for caps, scarves, mittens, gloves and socks for the

children. The other is for the women—cosmetics, beauty items, ‘pretties’ to make their lives less drab.

THE INGATHERING WILL BE ON DECEMBER 13.

THE ADVENT WREATH, made by Polly Barker and magnificent

as always, is given in memory of James and Eula Whitehead and

Harry Sr. and Myra Barker.

It was hung in place for Advent 1, November 29.

TO ENHANCE your observation of Advent and Christmas, there are

seasonal pamphlets in the narthex tract rack. Help yourself!

Outreach AGAIN THIS YEAR the offering collected through the special Christmas envelopes include with pledge

envelopes has been designated for our various outreach programs. The Vestry is sending Christmas greetings

to those on their lists and included will be a special envelope for those who do not have pledge ones so every-

one will have the opportunity to make a special gift.

IT’S THAT TIME OF THE YEAR AGAIN! As in the past the treasurer

is counting on all outstanding pledge payments coming in during December

so all the outstanding bills can be paid. The treasurer hopes to be smiling

on December 31! PLEASE NOTE: The boxes of 2016 envelopes will be

available before the end of the month.

CALLING ALL CAROLERS! On Sunday, December 20, following

the 10:15 Service, we will be caroling at some of the local assisted-living

facilities, including Merry Heart in Boonton. Supper at the rectory will

follow. Please let Ian Witthoeft or a member of the choir know by

Sunday, December 6, if you would like to participate.

Marty Stanton, who generously donated his expertise to set up the equipment enabling us to

view the installation of the new presiding bishop on November 1.

John Simonelli for his gift of a new Communion set being used at the Thursday morning

healing service. It was given in thanksgiving for the St. David’s family.

The cleanup day may have been cancelled but that didn’t stop Jim Alden and Bill and Cath-

erine Speed from trimming bushes and cleaning the memorial garden; Mike Roehrer from

blowing leaves out of the gutters; Deb Roehrer for cleaning in the sexton’s house. (The edi-

tor can testify to Catherine’s skill with clippers!) Thanks all!

Sunday, December 13—The Annual budget forum will be held immediately following the

10:15 Service. You will receive the 2015 materials for study prior to the event.

Sunday, December 20—The annual Greening of the Church following the 10:15 Service.

Vestry Meeting Highlights – November 19, 2015

The Meeting began with Vestry & Guiding Team members participating in Dwelling in The

Word led by Doris Snyder. A lengthy discussion followed about Going Local in general, and

Dwelling in The Word in particular, and about Part One of the book “Joining God: Remaking

Church, Changing the World” by Alan Roxburgh, which members of both groups had been

asked to read.

The Guiding Team presented their Dwelling in The Word report

David asked for 2 or 3 members of the congregation and 2 or 3 members of the community we

need to thank. He spoke about our new sexton, Guy Baskinger, who will begin his duties on

November 23rd. He also spoke about adapting the online version of an Advent Calendar called

“Advent Word” for our use, which would be sent to the parish via their smart phones starting

November 29th

We approved the Treasurer’s report for October as presented. Income and Expenses are pretty

much on track. We also reviewed the new financial reports that expand on the Treasurer’s re-

port.

We reviewed the proposed 2016 budget and approved the 2016 diocesan pledge.

Mike Roehrer reported on the progress on the rectory roof, on the condition of the sexton’s

house, and on what was accomplished on Fall cleanup day.

We reviewed the Christmas outreach letter, which notes which organizations will be receiving

the proceeds from this offering.

We amended and approved the church calendar for December.

Respectfully submitted,

John Simonelli, Senior Warden

Our new Sexton Guy Baskinger took up

his position on November 23rd and is

moving into the Sexton’s house on Kiel

Avenue. Guy’s day off will be Mondays.

Hoping you will be very happy

at St. David’s!
