Blessing of Christ Child Statues Feast of Holy Family, December 28 and 29
Please bring your baby Jesus from your Christmas nativity set to the mass you attend that weekend. Place your Christ Child on the tables before mass to be blessed. A family will carry in the parish’s baby Jesus for a blessing, then the Infant Jesus will be placed in the manger in the cove where the Nativity set stands. Take your Christ Child home after mass. Please do not leave any babies in the Church unattended!
Who did you come to see? A version of this question is posed by Jesus many times in the Gospels. He asks it of Andrew and John when they begin to follow him. He asks it of Mary Magdalene in the garden of the resurrection. He asks it in today’s Gospel. “What did you go out to the de-sert to see?” There is something innately human about “seeing.” Animals have eyes — some with much more powerful vision than our own — but that’s not the kind of seeing Jesus is talking about. We could phrase the ques-tion several other ways. “What are you looking for?” “What are you longing for?” “Whom do you seek?”
It is in seeing for ourselves that our suspicions or hypothe-ses are confirmed, that our desires discover their fulfill-ment, and that we can rest for a moment in certainty. John the Baptist sought certainty of Jesus’ identity. “Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?” Jesus sends word to him based on the testimony of sight, obser-vations of the mighty deeds Jesus has begun to work. “Go and tell John what you hear and see.”
God recognizes our desire to see. In the Incarnation, the Word is made flesh. The invisible is made visible. The su-pernatural is made manifest in an infant who can do little more than the most natural of movements as he feeds, cries, sleeps. We don’t need to wait for Christmas to see God. The work of God is all around us. Those blinded by sin “regain their sight.” People overcome backgrounds of poverty and violence to make world-changing contribu-tions. Addicts grow and heal. Truth is spoken, and people listen. Let’s pray for the grace to see God’s movement in our lives this week. How have you seen the work of God?
Please pray for the repose of the souls of,
Barbara Hammerle who passed away on November 30 June Walker who passed away on December 5 Jean Williams who passes away on December 9
May they rest in peace.

Advent: Ignite Your Faith
Tuesday December 17 5:00pm Light Dinner in the Parish Center
6:00pm Holy Hour of Adoration with Reflection
This week’s reflection will be delivered by:
Msgr. Michael Osborn General Vicar of the Diocese of Kalamazoo
Monsignor Osborn is a very knowledgeable and inspiring speaker. The first week of Advent, Monsignor reflected on the Liturgy, ‘the participation of the People of God in the work of God’ with a focus on the Mass. This week Msgr. Osborn will reflect on the Church as a ‘temple of God built of living stones’. A place ‘suited to sacred celebrations, dignified and beautiful’. Everyone should plan on attending this reflection. Learn how the Liturgy, especially the Triduum, guides the building of a Church, the role and importance of church art and ar-chitecture and the integral roles of the local parish and the diocese during a Church renovation project. Monsignor Osborn will represent the Bishop, the Diocese throughout the design and renovation of St. Peter Church. Plan on attending, learn and have your questions answered.
About Msgr. Michael Osborn, JDC: Msgr. Osborn earned his Licentiate in Canon Law from the Pontifical Gregorian University and his PhD in Canon Law from the Pontifical Lateran University. He served in the Holy See working at the Pontifical Council ‘Cor Unum’ where he was named a "Chaplain to His Holiness" with the title of Monsignor. He served in the faculty of the Pontifical Josephinum College, Columbus (OH) in the School of The-ology, where he taught Canon Law, and Canon Law in Priestly Ministry. He served as Vocation Director for the Diocese of Kalamazoo. Msgr. Is currently Vicar General, Moderator of the Curia/General Secretary, Director of Priestly Formation, and Promoter of Justice for the Diocese.
Please welcome,
Rafael Alejandro, son of Carlos
Mendoza and Isabel Lopez,
as the newest member of our
parish family. Rafael was baptized
on Saturday, November 23.

God prepared the world to receive his Son at the mo-
ment of the Annunciation.
Several of our youngest parish family members joined together to act and sing in the Nativity Play. They performed at the Gingerbread Party and the Christian Neighbors
Children’s Holiday Party. Fantastic job to everyone involved!!
