Christmas Wish
I hope you take some time to read a good book, play a
game with family or friends, take a walk, eat good
food, reflect on the year, and spend some time being
still. Thank you for all you do to make Prince Charles
a great place to work and learn. I am thankful for you
and the opportunity to work together in such a great
community! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
. Sincerely, Mr. Friesen
Principal’s Message
This month we have been focusing on the virtue of
Caring. This is one of our five Royal values. The
others are Respect, Integrity, Honesty and Excellence.
Caring is giving love and attention to people and
things that matter to you. It is about caring and
helping people. When you care you treat people and
thing gently and respectfully.
I witnessed students demonstrating caring in our
community this month. Once was when our Royal
P.C. Choir sang at Menno Place. The students
demonstrated incredible empathy and caring for the
residents. They introduced themselves, shook their
hands and showed a genuine interest in the residents’
lives. One of our students took it upon herself to
bring the residents a plate of cookies.
Another demonstration of caring is when student
council visited the food bank warehouse early this
month and helped organize food for the less fortunate.
Our students demonstrated amazing character and
attitude as they help others in our community.
The final story is about our Angel tree. Many of you
have chosen a gift off the Angel tree to buy for one of
our three sponsor families. I have been in contact
with these families and they are overwhelmed to tears
in response to your generosity. They can’t believe the
number of caring people at Prince Charles. Thank
you so much for generosity and for practicing the
virtue of caring.

After School Dance Starts Up in January!
Hip Hop & Breakdance at Prince Charles
Dance Instructors David Hiebert and Kristy Parks
presented dance lessons during PE this week. After
school dance classes will start again in
January. Classes will run for six weeks starting on
the second week of January. Grade 4 & 5 students
can register for Wednesday Breakdance classes taught
by David Hiebert. Kristy Parkes is returning to teach
Hip Hop classes to Grade 2 & 3 on Thursdays and
Kindergarten & Grade 1 students on Tuesdays. Only
20 spaces are available for each class. Early
registration is recommended as spaces filled quickly
last year. Registration will be kept confidential from
students until Christmas as dance lessons often
become a Christmas gift for many students. Please
contact Mr. Eberding if you have any questions.
School Wide Ice Skating
On January 6, 13 & 20 (the first three Fridays in
January), Prince Charles Elementary students will be
going skating at the MSA Arena as part of their
Physical Education program. Students will travel by
school bus to the MSA Arena with their ‘buddy’
classes and will be on the ice for one hour. The more
parent volunteer support we have to assist students
getting their skates on the more time students will
have on the ice. Students should dress accordingly
including full sized socks to protect their feet.
Helmets are mandatory and are not supplied by the
ice rink. Please bring your own helmet!
Divisions 4, 5, 6 & 11 will leave Prince Charles at
9am and will return from MSA Arena at 11:15am
Divisions, 2, 7, 8 & 9 will leave Prince Charles at
10:15am and return from MSA Arena at 12:30 noon
Divisions 1, 3, 10 & 12 will leave Prince Charles at
11:45am and return from MSA Arena 2:15pm.
Kindergarten Registration starts January 16th!
If you have a child turning 5 in 2017 (born in
2012) and you live in the Prince Charles catchment,
stop by the office to complete a registration package.
Please tell your friends and neighbors to contact us to
schedule a tour! We would like to complete the
majority of our kindergarten registration in January! If
you do not live in our catchment area and have no
other children attending Prince Charles, you are
welcome to register to attend Prince Charles but

complete a Non-Catchment Request, signed by your
