Vietnam memorial planned At the 30th class reunion of the Salem High School Class of 1964, the idea was proposed to come up with a memorial for Larry Crumbaker, a classmate who was killed in Vietnam , as a personal tribute. Bob Labbe, another classmate, was the first Salem serviceman killed in Vietnam. The Robert Berg Labbe Memorial Park at the Salem VFW Post on Arch Street was erected - ,. nd dedicated in memory of all veterans who gave of themselves in defense of our nation - and named after Bob. The Salem VFW Post 892 approv- ed adding to the front side of the existing memorial stone the following: Salem High School Servicemen Killed in Vietnam; Robert B. Labbe, 3-4-66 Class of '64; Larry H. Crumbaker, 3- 30-67, Class of '64; William J. Hughes, 5-2-68, Class of ' 62; Charles J. Turri, 3-12-69, Class of '68 Contributions to the memorial fund can be made to John Tarleton, 449 W. 5th St. , Salem OH 44460, Ph 330- 332-0116; or Richard Capel II, 1174 W. Deceased members honored Since their 50th anniversary re- union, members of the Salem High School Class of 1943 have honored the memory of each deceased member with a $20 contribution to the Salem High School Alumni Association's Vocational Scholarship Fund . The Breakfast Groyp has been supporting the effort. tfius far and has been building a memorial fund which currently totals $479, according to Marian Davidson Zeigler. In response to a recent letter to each classmate, they have received an additional $2369. The goal is to raise about $4000 which will be invested at interest to cover future memorials has well as the 49 members who died before their 50th reunion . In a letter with her contribution, Emma Bauman Holmes, professor of education and child development emeritus at California State Univer- sity, wrote "I was pleased to hear of the plan to establish such a policy. I believe vocational scholarships will enable many young people to pursue satisfying careers, and I applaud the 'Breakfast Bunch' for deciding on contributions to the vocational schol- arship fund to remember our class- mates. I enthusiastically endorse their decision and hope other classes fol- low the lead and establish memorial funds for the same purpose ." Library foundation names Hansell Dean Hansell , partner and head of

litigation tor five western offices of LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae, LLP, has been appointed to the board of directors of the Library Foundation of Los Angeles, announced by the board on Jan. 21 . He is a 1970 graduate of Salem High School.

Established in 1992, the Library Foundation Board of Directors' mission is to solicit private contribu­tions to support the Los Angeles Public Library's collection enhance­ment, tor selected capital improve­ments and to expand services wh ich provide greater access to learning tor the city's diverse population. Several prominent leaders and philanthropists serve on the board, including Richard T. Schlosberg Ill, publisher and CEO of the Los Angeles Times, author Sidney Sheldon and Avedick B.

A 1969 graduate of Salem High School , he is also a Kent State University graduate. He is the son and stepson of Dorothy and Edward Wentzel of Largo, Fla. and the son the late Karl A. Mohn. He and his wife, Kathryn Goertz Mohn have a 21/2-year-old son, Zackary.
