Dear Families; November 22, 2019 With us nearing the end of the marking period, I am required to complete a series of tests to be able to monitor your child’s progress. This includes reading with each child individually, students writing/spelling 100 sight words, a math assessment and more. I purposely did not give students spelling words this week because I thought it would be too much stress. Spelling words will resume after the holiday. Given this will be the last correspondence before the break, I would like to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving! I hope it is a time of family fun and memories. Math: o Subtraction Word problems o Using number lines to help with subtraction o Math assessment Phonics: o Introduction of the /oo/ sound as in ‘soon’ o Spelling all 100 sight words Social studies o The first settlers- Roanoke Island o The journey of the pilgrims o How did the Pilgrims decide what to take with them. o Life on the ship Special Programming: o A presentation on dental hygiene o Agriculture in the classroom- focused on cranberries!
