MEMBER OF THE MONTH - Linda Seever

Linda has been weaving for 17 years and she has been A member of the basket guild for about 16 years.

Her basket career began at a store called, Peerless Rattan 17 years ago selling basket supplies.

The owner, Helen Cribbs, gave Linda a pattern and the suppliesto make a basket and she did with no

instruction from anyone. Helen then paid Linda to take a class with Kathy Tessler. From then on,

she was hooked and she began teaching basket weaving classes at the Wrapping Post.

Linda loves to make egg baskets with dyed “0” round reed, and she also likes to weave with natural

materials such as; honeysuckle vine, cattails, white oak and pine needles.

She was born and lived in Detroit, Mich. For 30 years before she moved to Ohio. She has 3 children, 2 sons

and a daughter and 5 grandchildren, ages ranging from 1yr to 8yrs. Old. She shares her home with two cats; Zoe, and Jimmy Jewel. Jewel had

to be renamed when they found out she was a “he.” Linda has worked for H & R Block for 9 years. Her other hobbies are Scrapbooking for

her family. Her first love is teaching children about the Bible.

Linda teaches basket weaving at her home and she travels to teach at different venues. She likes to demonstrate weaving and talks about

basket weaving at Historical Societies events. She went to a pioneer village in Ashland, Ky. For 3 days and taught 2,300 kids to weave with the

naturals they collected in the wooded area.

Thanks for agreeing to share your story with the guild, Linda.

Jennie Dranschak brought two guests,

Ladies,

This is for those of you who attended the July Guild meeting. I had brought abasket kit to the meeting to work on, but did not have any time to do any of it. The kit did not make it home with me. It was the Yarn Basket kit that I hadpurchased from Margaret Harness at Weave in the Park. I always leave last, andknow that we didn’t leave anything because I always check. I have searched myhouse to make sure that it really is missing and not misplaced. If it accidentlygot mixed in with someone else’s stuff, and you didn’t know who it belonged to, Iwould like to get it back if possible.
